Kellie Tranter holier than Dalai Lama

Below is some of the deepest wisdom I have ever encountered from a leftard. This is the take-away line from a longer piece, much of which is reproduced below. It's important that the whole world knows and understands that the lady who wrote the line below is holy and pure. She is a saint. She is far holier than the Dalai Lama. According to me, that doesn't add up to much. But it is something of an accomplishment to be holier than the Dalai Lama nonetheless. She did it.

"The US vigilantes may have killed bin Laden, but they haven’t helped to make the world a more peaceful or secure place. In fact, peace is about the only thing that has never been tried."

See? We are all evil and mindless drones working myopically to maintain the evil and corrupt capitalist system; and we wage wars against helpless brown people to satisfy ourselves with the crumbs fallen from the banquet tables of the fat cats. We hate brown people. We are morons. Only the writer as per above knows and is both intelligent and moral. Dalai Lama hates brown people, and that is why he writes the piece below. He is secretly in the pay of the multi-national oil companies. Only the leftard writer above (and further below) is moral and intelligent. And of course, those who believe as she does know that the Dalai Lama is a capitalist pig. This is what Dali Lama Hitler says:

THE US may have been justified in killing Usama bin Laden, the Dalai Lama said late Tuesday, in a rare turn away from the spiritual guru's typical message of peace and compassion.

Speaking Tuesday night at the University of Southern California, the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader said the al Qaeda chief, responsible for the deaths of thousands, likely deserved his fate.

"In the case of Bin Laden, his action was of course destructive and the September 11 events killed thousands of people. So his action must be brought to justice," the Dalai Lama said, according to a summary of his remarks posted on his website.

"If something is serious and it is necessary to take counter-measures, you have to take counter-measures" he was quoted as saying - a surprising message from a man known across the planet as a harbinger of compassion.

And while bin Laden may have deserved forgiveness, that "did not mean that one should forget what has been done," the Dalai Lama said.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/breaking-news/osam-bin-laden-likely-deserved-his-fate-says-dalai-lama/story-e6frf7jx-1226050236940

Here the Dalai Lama and everyone not as spiritually pure as Kellie Tranter, lawyer and writer, gets to know just how racist and evil they are. Chances are, you are part of the problem. You just might think killing Osama bin Laden was a good thing. But we all know from Bishop Berkeley and Schopenhauer that the world is illusion and that we should be aware of the Tranterverse of perfect peace. World is Will, and you all have bad thoughts, which is why the world is mean. Shame on you.

Has Osama bin Laden’s death justified the means?

Osama bin Laden has been killed. The US got its man, just as George Bush vowed it would. So is the frenzy of war that grew from 9/11 over? Certainly not.

The only thing that is, are the lame jokes about Osama bin Laden hiding in the kitchen pantry.

The public celebrations in the West Bank after the awful events of September 11 that appalled us in the West seem somehow eerily mirrored in the celebrations we are now witnessing at the White House. Pick the difference! It’s reminiscent of celebrating fans after a football victory. And it suggests we are locked in an ongoing war of retribution: we must bomb or be bombed, we must kill or be killed.

Nothing can excuse or justify any act of terrorism, but when leaders of any nation - particularly our own - applaud the state-legitimised murder of any person and call it justice, I can’t help but feel it makes us all a little less human.

[....]

In the ten years it took the US to hunt down and kill bin Laden, what have we gained in terms of understanding both ourselves and “the enemy” and advancing the interests of humanity as a whole?

[....]

Isn’t this anti-American sentiment marinated in religion? Isn’t it the converse of what the White House spins, with implicit moralising more than explicit evangelism, in its justification for using its war machine to spread freedom and democracy? If so it’s dangerously naïve for political leaders in this country join the celebrations and suggest that things will end well.

Why?

Because you can’t kill an ideology by bombing people and assassinating their leaders.

[....]

As little as the gap between rich and poor in the world was the cause of the murderous attack on September 11, all the more are the attacks against Afghanistan deepening this gap and thereby multiplying reasons to hate the West and its civilisation….With every bomb that falls and every western soldier who kills on Afghan soil, the rich part of this world closes its eyes to the suffering of the peoples in the south…With its offensive the West is not only undermining the idea of a collective legal effort to counteract terror, but is also betraying its own principles.

In the final analysis this undeclared war is no longer being waged to combat terrorism but rather to preserve a reputation of military invincibility.

Finally, with every day that war is waged there and with every new security law passed here (in the western world), that very freedom which is supposedly being defended is threatened and those refugees, who are the products of this military action and its consequences are marginalised. On September 11, not only did thousands of people suffer an agonising death, but even western civilisation suffered a defeat.

Those murdered in the attack will not be restored to life through the war against the Taliban. With every day of war the risk of a still greater moral and political disaster increases. It is still possible to learn from the failures experienced up to now. There is still a chance to return to negotiations and to reach a political solution which attempts to re-establish a legal order and to provide for justice and social equality in Afghanistan and in the world.”

[....]

Exactly what “terrorism” are we taking a collective stand against? Who’s taking that collective stand, what does it look like, and can we trust the motives of the collective actors? Has Osama bin Laden’s death justified the means? The cluster bombs, the depleted uranium, the drones, the killing of innocent men, women and children, the illegal invasions of sovereign nations, the devastating environmental and human destruction.

[....]

The US vigilantes may have killed bin Laden, but they haven’t helped to make the world a more peaceful or secure place. In fact, peace is about the only thing that has never been tried.

Kellie Tranter is a lawyer and writer.

Well, according to me that was so stupid the woman should be included in the next sack of unwanted kittens going to the river. There is little we can do about such insipid people articulating moral idiocy. I could get Stalinesque in my dreams, if I had any. I would love to destroy such people till the waters run clear again because they is no more blood to shed. But it's late in the night and my mind is wandering. I don't ever, though, even in the morning on a clear blue day indulge in such maudlin and filthy sentimentality for the sake of showing off for my friends. But, for some, this is the high-point of living. Too show off and inflate the Moral to the point it is all air and gas, that is the best of them and their deepest soul. This kind of shameless sentimentality and moral over-reach is applauded today among the sick people of the Left. They like it. They will probably find a way to forget that Dalai Lama made his public mis-step, and when he giggles like a girl and stammers shyly they will applaud him like they do Tranter today.

A sickness in the Modern world. Sentimentality run wild and howling like a beast. It needs to be put down. It is as bad or worse than bin Laden himself. Sick fucks like Tranter are the real problem in our world today.

British Conservative Party government attacks native citizens with shotguns....

"We've been working very closely with the Muslim community.... "

The Conservative Party prime minister of Britain has threatened to ban opposition to his plan to Islamise the nation. A few days ago his police forces have shot out the tyres of a van carrying a law-abiding citizen because, it seems, some Muslims complained that the driver and his mates were planning to bomb a mosque. Half a dozen people were arrested, then released without charge-- because they were falsely accused. That hardly matters to the British ruling class. There will be more incidents like this because the British ruling class is at war with the British people.

The British ruling class and the Left dhimmi fascist intelligentsia and their followers are determined to destroy the nations of Britain and to turn them into a multi-cultural utopias. Those, such as the English Defence League, are not merely hounded by police, they are shot at and beaten and arrested and generally vilified by the rulership of Britain. Reaction among the alarmed is usually along the lines of, "Someone should do something." The prime minister wants to ban opposition to Islamisation of Britain. That's something.

Hugh Fitzgerald has the line of the year, this concerning David Cameron:

"He doesn't have the mental pencil to connect the dots."

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2010/07/british-pm-cameron-digs-himself-in-deeper-calls-gaza-a-prison-camp.html#comment-691208

Jasbir Authi, "David Cameron makes dash to West Midlands," Birmingham Mail. 6 May 6 2010.
DAVID Cameron would look to ban groups like the English Defence League if he wins the general election, he said during his latest visit to the Midlands yesterday.
The Conservative leader made his pledge as he met employees at West Midlands Ambulance Service Depot in Dudley, following the Bank Holiday demonstrations by the group in the town, in a final attempt to convince voters to swing to Tory. Mr Cameron said: “The EDL are terrible people, we would always keep these groups under review and if we needed to ban them, we would ban them or any groups which incite hatred.”
http://www.birminghammail.net/news/birmingham-news/2010/05/06/david-cameron-makes-dash-to-west-midlands-97319-26385771/

Not satisfied with banning the EDL, Cameron now wants to allow unrestricted Muslim immigration into Britain. Those who object? Maybe Cameron will have them shot. So far just beatings and imprisonment without bail.

Pamela Geller, "Free the Dudley 2," Atlas Shrugs. 5 May 2010.
Senior EDL leadership has advised me that "the two lads both went on the roof in perfect health, now one of the protesters, Leon, has a broken arm and a black eye due to a vicious beating by police. To add insult to injury they have both been remanded in custody until their court date. They have been charged with burglary and inciting religious hatred. This is because they played the Islamic call to prayer, and the kufar are not allowed to do this."
http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2010/05/free-the-dudley-2-.html

For the British intelligentsia, the most important thing on earth is to create their vision of a multi-cultural utopia. The people be damned. Beat them, gaol them, just shoot them.

Jason Groves, "Turkey must join EU, says Cameron: 'Those who are against are playing on fears of Islam' " Daily Mail. 27 July 2010
David Cameron today accused critics of Turkey’s membership of the EU of playing on fears of Islam - as he pledged to ‘pave the road from Ankara to Brussels’.
In a speech in the Turkish capital the Prime Minister promised to ‘fight’ to help the Islamic state achieve its 50-year goal of EU membership.
He said that, by embracing the moderate Muslim nation, the EU can improve relations with the rest of the Islamic world.
And he hit out at those who ‘wilfully misunderstand Islam’ in order to oppose Turkey’s membership.
[....]
Mr Cameron pledged to become the country’s ‘strongest possible advocate’.
He said: ‘I’m here to make the case for Turkey’s membership of the EU. And fight for it.

Maybe that's not quite clear enough. Here's more:

Kitty Donaldson, "Cameron Vows to Support Turkish Quest to Join European Union," Blomberg. 27 July 2010
U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron called on other European Union nations to drop their objections to Turkey’s joining the 27-nation bloc.

“I will remain your strongest possible advocate for EU membership and for greater influence at the top table of European diplomacy,” Cameron said in a speech in the Turkish capital, Ankara, today. “Together, I want us to pave the road from Ankara to Brussels.”

Regarding the tiny minority of Muslims who have highjacked the peaceful religion of shari'a, dhimmitude, and eternal jihad, the Muslim police gangs of Britain want the British to stfu and let them do their jobs.

Melanie Philips, "The thin blue line of jihad," The Spectator. 21 January 2010
The Telegraph reports that the National Association of Muslim Police has attacked government policy on countering Islamic extremism. In evidence to a parliamentary committee investigating Islamic extremism, the NAMP attacked the Government’s anti-terrorism strategy, warning that it is an ‘affront to British values’ which threatens to trigger ethnic unrest... that ministers were wrong to blame Islam for being the ‘driver’ behind recent terrorist attacks. Far-Right extremists were a more dangerous threat to national security... that Muslims were being ‘stigmatised’ by the Government’s attempts to tackle terrorism, which was adding to ‘hatred’ against entire communities. ...The memorandum warned that Muslims were subjected to 'daily abuse' due to the strategy. 'We must not diminish our British values further by continuing to allow such behaviour and policies to continue unchecked.'

But when all else fails, just shoot.

Jim Durkin, "EDL members arrested over Bournemouth mosque bomb plot fears," Daily Echo. 27 July 2010
ARMED police opened fire during an operation to arrest members of the controversial far-right English Defence League, who were feared to be masterminding an attack at a Bournemouth mosque.
Marksmen shot the tyres out on a van belonging to John Broomfield, who describes himself as Dorset EDL head, as he drove alone through Corfe Castle.
He and six others were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to cause an explosion at a Bournemouth mosque.
All seven, including at least six EDL members, have since been released without charge.
[Police say,] “We’ve been working very closely with the Muslim community since last Thursday and our local safer neighbourhood teams have been providing advice and reassurance throughout.
“At this stage there is no indication whatsoever that any of the mosques in Dorset are under threat of attack.”

Seven arrested over Bournemouth far-right mosque 'bomb plot'

By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 7:29 PM on 27th July 2010

[EDL member] John Broomfield, 27, ... was pulled from his stationary vehicle after armed police opened fire on his van in Corfe Castle village.
[....]
[Police said:] "We've been working very closely with the Muslim community.... "
Officers had followed Broomfield home from work and waited until he was stuck in traffic in the tourist spot before they pounced. When his van came to a halt they fired rounds into the tyres. They then smashed a window and dragged him out in shocking scenes that followed an investigation into alleged plans to blow up a nearby mosque. The marksmen used special rapid tyre deflation rounds to disable the white Ford Escort van. Police then swooped on Mr Broomfield's home in Swanage and seized computer equipment, mobile phones and passports.

Mr Broomfield, the head of the Dorset EDL, said yesterday: 'While travelling home from work I was stopped and arrested by armed police. 'I approached a roundabout near Corfe Castle and there were about six cars in front of me. 'There was an unmarked police car in a lay-by and within seconds of me stopping police appeared from it, ran up the road and shot at my tyres and smashed the window in. 'It was extremely scary. I was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to cause an explosion at a Bournemouth mosque.' He continued: 'Five other members of the EDL were also arrested and held for 24 hours for questioning while searches of their homes took place. Then all of us were released without charge.'
Of the alleged plan to blow up the mosque, he added: 'There has been no conspiracy, there has never been any conspiracy.

Far right bomb plot? Who writes this crap? The same kind of person who acts as a dhimmi policeman in pursuit of "order." I have some sympathy for the police, not just in Britain or America, but for most professional police. The fact is they are not generally committed to a state or an ideology but to "Order" itself. I have nothing against order. I prefer it to disorder, which one might experience in war-time and conflict on a grand scale.

I'll give a brief personal anecdote to explain what I mean: I encountered an ex-Stasi agent to whom I was seriously close to harming. He told me, (which saved him,) that he cared not at all why he arrested people, not whether they were right or wrong, only that they had broken the laws it was his professional duty to uphold. Yes, it's a Nazi defence, but I can't just write it off. It's not my place to dispense justice in the world. He's a seriously bad guy, and maybe I'm not so good either; but there is law to deal with such people. If he gets away, then my conscience is not burdened for a life-time with his end. If the law never gets him, then he can survive in the jungle till he dies. The worst that can happen to him, and it likely will, is that he will never suffer from any awareness of his own evil. That's a punishment beyond anything anyone can serve him.

In the case of the English dhimmis, these men and women are working class idiots who have no sense or imagination. Like most people, they follow what others follow, doing harm because they're too stupid to think for themselves. A time will come when the ethos changes, and the idiots today will be idiots working for us tomorrow. Disgusting to the moral as it is, that's life. It does no good to take it personally. These people, the police, the Muslims, the Trotskyite fool dhimmis, most of them are social animals acting as the herd acts. Punishing them for it is to lessen us. I left my hatred at a lake-side as a young man, and I hope never to pick it up from the mud again. People are just people. The worst we should definitely hang, but the vast majority will do whatever everyone else does. Too damned bad. Such is life.

Islam must take a seat and pay close attention

Muslims want to build a 13 story monument to Islam two blocks from Ground Zero, and the local dhimmis think it's a great idea.

I've been in a state of shock for the past few days. Here's some of the story.

"New Yorkers Wary Of Future Ground Zero Mosque," from CBS, May 6:

NEW YORK (CBS) ― In a building damaged by debris from the Sept. 11 airliners that brought down the World Trade Center and soon to become a 13-story mosque, some see the bridging of a cultural divide and an opportunity to serve a burgeoning, peaceful religious population. Others see a painful reminder of the religious extremism that killed their loved ones.
Anything having to do with that day, that place, carries enormous meaning. Now two Islamic organizations have partnered to build something that they say will bring some good from something very bad.
Organizers say the project will create a venue for mainstream Islam and a counterbalance to radicalism. It earned a key endorsement this week from influential community leaders.
"This is a community center, a community and cultural center, which would include certainly prayer space for Muslims and we hope for non-Muslims as well, to bring about a new discourse in the relationship between the United States, New York City, and the Muslim world," said Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf of the Cordoba Initiative.
He's hoping the 13-story, $100 million Islamic center will join the other buildings; the banks, offices, and apartments, going up at ground zero. It will serve a growing Muslim population in lower Manhattan.
The closest mosque to this area is a dozen blocks away and very over-crowded, but this site was also chosen for exactly what happened here on 9/11, and what America stands for, Rauf told CBS station WCBS-TV in New York City.
"Definitely, this is a victory of American tolerance over hatred," Rauf said.
Who's Rauf? Why do we have a Muslim discussing a Muslim monument built near to Ground Zero? Why isn't his voice one of many rising in a long scream begging for mercy? No. Instead he is triumphant. He accuses us of his own filthy crimes, and our own lap it up like a dog at his own vomit. Build a Muslim monument at Ground Zero and thank Muslims for it. Dhimmis love it.

911 Mosque Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf Blames Christians: "The US and the West must acknowledge the harm they have done to Muslims before terrorism can end"
[....]

Feisal Abdul Rauf (ECTN) Jihadwatch

"Feisal Abdul Rauf, a New York imam, expects us to believe that jihad warfare was started by the West and can only be ended by the West."

[....]

Feisal Abdul Rauf puts it all on the West, and gets invited to Australia by Premier Bob Carr.

The US and the West must acknowledge the harm they have done to Muslims before terrorism can end, says an Islamic cleric invited to Sydney by Premier Bob Carr.

[....]

Speaking from his New York mosque, Imam Feisal said the West had to understand the terrorists' point of view.

In a move likely to cause controversy with church leaders, Imam Feisal said it was Christians who started mass attacks on civilians.

"The Islamic method of waging war is not to kill innocent civilians. But it was Christians in World War II who bombed civilians in Dresden and Hiroshima, neither of which were military targets."

[....]

Imam Feisal said the bombing in Madrid had made his message more urgent. He said there was an endless supply of angry young Muslim rebels prepared to die for their cause and there was no sign of the attacks ending unless there was a fundamental change in the world.

[....]

Imam Feisal, who argues for a Western style of Islam that promotes democracy and tolerance, said there could be little progress until the US acknowledged backing dictators and the US President gave an "America Culpa" speech to the Muslim world.

Dhimmitude is a sado-masochist exercise. Our intelligentsia live for it. We, by indulging them, degrade our selves, our people, our nations. Islam is a garbage culture of parasites and decayed warriors who have no strength. Our Left dhimmi fascist intelligentsia lend them power to humiliate our Modernity, to destroy our Modernity; and our people do not object forcefully, being foolish and passive and mindful of authority legitimate or not. Sick-minded masochists in power demand we obey their favoured sadists, and our people accept it. Some of our own, at any rate. For now, at any rate. Pseudo-intellectuals, these masochists and caprophagists, have power in our lands, and they, like courtiers of times past, torment those they can because it is the nature of masochists to indulge in sadism in turn. It is perverted and sick, but few have the courage to object to the authority of power itself. Because of that weakness, we see the possibility of a Muslim monument built on the grave of our own, Muslims gloating, dhimmis grovelling before their sadist masters. I've been in shock. I am sickened.

"The US and the West must acknowledge the harm they have done to Muslims before terrorism can end."

Our dialogue with Islam need include no more than a wooden arm chair, a roll of duct tape, a rusty spoon, and an optional box of salt. That chair, that rusty spoon, that roll of tape: Our Monuments.

America Then and Now

We've gone from Mount Rushmore to the seventh level of Hell recently.

We can change that by working hard to make our nation healthy and strong, which is much a matter of telling whingers to shut up. It's not deep philosophy, it's just simply telling the next person who tells you, "America is the most evil nation on Earth," to "Shut the f*ck up."

Will you win an argument with that? will you make a friend? Will you do anything to change the fool's mind, such as it is? Not a chance. All you'll do is get off your knees and give others around you a chance to cheer when they hear you. Off our knees. It's our turn to kick some arse.

The Temper of Our Times

I find that as I get older my private life shrinks from the large thing it was as a younger man: I don't have a mass of close friends, don't have family and social concerns of pressing import, don't involve myself in the personal lives of people I know. My interests are personal, but not so much private. My interests have shifted from privacy to publicity, i.e. from the life of myself and close ones to the lives and doing of the greater, if indistinct, general world of Man.

That, again to clarify, is to mean that were one of my friends harmed, then all my efforts would focus centrally on retribution against anyone who has done them harm, a thing I would take personally. As is, my concerns are more outward, more geared toward my greater community of souls, my nation, my civilization, my world. That, of course, involves many who share little or nothing with me in this life but world air-currents. Still, they concern me. I usually wish them no harm in any personal fashion. Which brings me to those who must be harmed. We might, you and I, call it love.

My nation and its people are strong, and strong beyond even our comprehension. Thus, when reading the piece below, I find myself concerned about the harm that will come due to our misguided strength turned these latter days to deliberate weakness. I fear the wrath of righteous men unleashed upon the weak. See here for a matter of concern to us all:

VOA News last Thursday published a ridiculous article that, unfortunately, reflects all-too-common assumptions: “President Obama Seeks to Bridge Differences with Islam,” by Jerome Socolovsky. It begins:

U.S. President Barack Obama has again postponed his trip to Indonesia because of pressing issues in the U.S. The trip is part of his ongoing effort to reach out to Muslims worldwide. Last year, he gave a speech in Cairo that was considered a landmark in the effort to bridge differences between Islam and the West. Many Muslims believe he should do more [sic]

No one seems to think that Muslims have any responsibility to “bridge differences between Islam and the West.” No, everyone, from Barack Obama to Jerome Socolovsky, and everyone in between, knows that the conflict is all the West’s fault. Note how Jerome Socolovsky frames the conflict:

Frictions between Islam and the West often flare up – like when when a Danish newspaper published cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed – or when Muslim girls in Europe went to school wearing veils, or new minarets in Switzerland were banned.

Note that he mentions nothing about, say, “frictions” “flaring up” when Muslims, acting in the name of Islam and jihad, murder thirteen Americans in cold blood at Fort Hood, or murder two American soldiers in Little Rock, Arkansas, or murder one and wound five in a Jewish Community Center in Seattle, or plow into a crowd of students, trying to murder as many as possible, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Etc.

No, none of that makes “frictions” “flare up.” Instead, “frictions” only “flare up” when a Danish newspaper has the temerity to publish cartoons of the “Prophet Mohammed” — as the mainstream media universally designates him these days, as if we’re all Muslims now. Jerome Socolovsky gives no hint that he, or any reasonable person, may think that it’s sheer madness or worse to go around murdering innocent people, or even demanding free speech restrictions, because of a few cartoons. As far as he is concerned, the cartoons — not Islamic jihad mass murders — make “frictions” “flare up.”

Full article here.

Our nation is strong beyond measure or reckoning. We have confused the weak by our pretences of weakness in the world. I personally have done such at times, and the result is that there has to be a reckoning of terrible correction. The Muslim world is the weakest of worlds in our universe of shared living. The Muslim world is a pathetic and sick thing filled to overflowing with ugliness and evil, now on the rampage against our sentimental civility. We kid them with our sentimentality, giving them, the "Shoe-bombers" and the "Panty-bombers" and the Mohammed Cartoon criers, the idea that we are weak and cannot resist them in their staged furies. We fake a weakness we do not have. We pretend we have no strength to fight and no desire to kill. That, dear reader, is a cosmic injustice that will come to shame us. By which I mean:

The Muslim world, emboldened to attack the world of the strong, attacks the strong, They, in their grip of the delusion of our weakness and the displays of our collective and public sentimentalities, assume wrongly that we are weak and cowardly. This is clearly not so. We, like others, are as capable of cruelty and evil as others; and we will, in time, act upon our own worst natures, as befits the common man enraged.

Personally there are few things I love more than pain and blood, fires raging out of control, the breath-taking exhilaration of explosions, the screams of the tortured, and the stillness of the dead. I like it beyond liking: I love it. I love war.

Muslim terror? Muslims are weak and stupid. I could happily live without ever thinking of such garbage people and such garbage cultures. But because we allow them to invade our consciousness on a daily, hourly, moment by moment basis, now, and for years now, I am focussed on them, and nearly them alone. Focus means they will have to suffer for it. If they'd slunk off and died like dogs we wouldn't have bothered with them. As is, they demand our attention, which is our innate evil nature's delight. I love war; and war against Muslims, regardless of their lack of nobility as worthy enemies, is my delight, personally. I don't think so often of my personal life as my personal life, preferring to think instead of my life as a public thing involved in public war.

My private life is shrunk to the smallest. My personal life is given over mostly to the thought of war, and war in this case, against Islam. It's a shameful thing to attack and destroy such worthless and disgusting primitives, but such is the fate given us by our own sentimentalists. Crushing Islam to dust, disgusting as it is for the strong to crush such weaklings, is something I can live with, given the love of war and the lack of a better class of enemy.

Even now in the middle of a very long and eccentric life I find myself sometimes wincing and grimacing over the unbidden rise of memories from random experiences that just won't go away in spite of whatever discipline I use to keep them away. Some ugly memories are scars that won't fade. One such nasty memory is of a repulsive young woman at a dance hall whose tee-shirt bore the caption: "I wouldn't wanna be you."

I can appreciate the idea of not wanting to be you. Regardless of who I might be, I'd rather be me than not. I don't want to be you. Fair enough. But I don't want you not to be you. Islam, for all its obvious faults, at least understands that no one is ever going to be the Perfect Man, he being, according to Islam, Mohammed, not to be repeated, only imitated. Islam, for all its totalitarianism, doesn't attempt to make anyone into the kind of person "we all should be." Islam settles for orthopraxy, for outward ritual behaviour. For the totalitarian Leftist, this is not enough. He not only rejects you as you but demands that you conform to his vision of the Ideal Man as you. It's one thing not to want to be me; but it is something creepy to not want me to be me. That's me The Individualist writing. I value Privacy. Muslims and the Left value Publicity. No, I wouldn't want to be you, but that's not a problem for me. It is a problem for the communitarian.

For the communitarian, the idea of Another not being a conformist in all ways, body, mind and soul, is an outrage against Nature. Communitarians, Statists, Muslims, collectivists of all sorts, they hate individuals and individualism. Usually this is of no concern to most of us. Unfortunately, there is a growing movement of middle-aged hippies in government and areas of social control, e.g our universities, who are fanatical in their drive to make all others "not themselves." We must all be One.
I'm rereading Matthew Arnold today. I read Arnold as a young man, ( not, at the time, realizing that in the doing I was preparing myself for marriage in middle-age,) from a sense of duty rather than passion. Today, for me, he raises the question of the benefits of Culture, by which he means High Culture of the mid-Victorian era. He writes of others as in need of the education they lack, an education which makes their philistine lives "hole and corner." Like most people, he doesn't like people not like himself. He writes of others: "Consider these people, then, their way of life, their habits, their manners, the very tones of their voice; look at them attentively; observe the literature they read, the things which give them pleasure, the words which come from their mouths, the thoughts which make the furniture of their minds; would any amount of wealth be worth having with the condition that one was to become just like these people by having it?"1.

Good grief! Would I want to be a man like him? Not for all the money on Earth. Wouldn't even want to be Elvis. Nor does Arnold, for all his obnoxious snobbery, intend anyone to think others should be him or like him. In that he is ultimately far superior to the average Leftist. Arnold's snobbery begins and ends with himself. He did not kill anyone in a futile and hubristic attempt to make a New Man. Such cannot be said of the Death Hippies who today rule our many nations of Modernity, lands of Sweetness and Light, where ignorant Leftards clash on sight.

Who then is the Humanist? He who doesn't want to be you is probably fine with not being you. He who doesn't like you is probably fine with that too. It is he who doesn't want you to be you who is the man we must not tolerate. I wouldn't be someone else for all the money on Earth. Nor would I want to make another not himself even if that someone is someone I'd gladly hang from a lamp-post. People have rights, innately, and the most basic right is to be their own Lords. Sometimes others are so disgusting I can't shake the horror of the vision of them; but that's my problem, not theirs. I can live with it. Can our collectivist Culture Curators? Can we live with them?

In a famous speech in 1961, Che Guevara denounced the very "spirit of rebellion" as "reprehensible."

"Youth must refrain from ungrateful questioning of governmental mandates" commanded Guevara. "Instead, they must dedicate themselves to study, work, and military service." And woe to those youths "who stayed up late at might and thus reported to work [government forced-labor] tardily."

"Youth," wrote Guevara, "should learn to think and act as a mass." "Those who chose their own path" [...] were denounced as worthless "lumpen" and "delinquents." In his famous speech Che Guevara even vowed, "to make individualism disappear from Cuba! It is criminal to think of individuals!"

Big Boom Bombay

I often can't tell the difference between David Duke of Stormfront and his evil twin, the former mayor of London, Red Ken Livingstone. Here I face the same problem looking at the works and wonders of "anti-war" Leftist, Justin Raimondo and a gaggle of Muslims. You tell me.

Justin Raimondo, "The Meaning of Mumbai: South Asia, the new arena." Behind the Headlines. 3, Dec. 2008

The Mumbai massacre comes at a time when the U.S. is about to switch battlefields in its avowedly "generational" war on terrorism, from the Middle East to South Asia. As we move our forces eastward into Afghanistan and, inevitably, Pakistan, the events in Mumbai light up the geopolitical landscape like lightning at midnight, prefiguring a new and even bigger quagmire than the one we're supposedly leaving behind in Iraq. Forget the differences between Sunnis and Shi'ites. That's so yesterday. What we're dealing with now, in the Pakistani-Indian rivalry, is a true war of civilizations, pitting Muslims against Hindus.

India's 9/11: that's what they're calling it, and the pattern fits in certain ways, particularly when it comes to forewarnings.... In the case of Mumbai, however, the warnings were quite specific: the Indians were apparently informed that an attack from water-based terrorists on Mumbai hotels – including the Taj Hotel, where much of the action took place – was imminent. The most telling detail is no doubt the fact that the Indian police simply ran for cover, although what this tells us is hard to believe. Can it really be true that so specific a warning could have been ignored?

[....]

The effect of the Mumbai massacre on Indian politics is another likely analogy to 9/11, which gave the neocons power and catapulted the worst warmongers to the very top of the national security bureaucracy. In the case of India, where voters will soon go to the polls, we are apt to see an electoral victory for the most militantly nationalistic and chauvinistic political movement in the country, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

[....]

The pressure to cement an Indo-American alliance has been growing for quite some time and is slated to accelerate. India's special relationship with Israel, for one thing, is second only to our own. For another, President-elect Obama's promise to escalate the war in Afghanistan and even spread it into Pakistan is congruent with the plans of India's War Party, which is waiting in the wings to take the reins and confront Islamabad.

[....]

As bad as George W. Bush was, he never messed up that badly. One can almost hear the collective sigh of relief now that we are approaching the day when an easily-manipulated ignoramus is no longer in charge of American foreign policy. What may be even more dangerous, however, is a very smart president who thinks he and his advisers know more than they actually do.

The strategic shift in the balance of U.S. military forces in the region, away from Iraq and eastward to Afghanistan and Pakistan, seems almost to have been conceived in order to confirm the complaints of the anti-American forces in the region that the U.S. and its allies have launched a crusade to eliminate Islam from the map. From this perspective the pattern is clear enough: having exhausted their efforts in Iraq, now the West strikes from a different direction, in alliance with India. At the geographic center of it all, you'll note, sits Iran, which can look forward to being surrounded on both sides.

We get this bit of brilliance from the Muslim site Sahilonline: Reflection of the Truth: "Terror attack planned by RSS and allies?"

The dastardly Mumbai terror attack of November 26 & 27, has claimed the lives of over 125 people and injured scores more. This terror attack in our analysis has been planned & orchestrated by the Sangh Pariwar and its allies within the security apparatus to counter the investigation of the ATS led by Hemant Karkare, so as to nullify and divert attention from the true face of BJP-RSS Parivar's involvement in fermenting terror attacks in the country.

The basic aim was to totally subvert every attempt by the ATS (Anti-Terror Squad) that was undoubtedly uncovering the nefarious terrorist cells within the various branches of the Sangh Pariwar as well as their RSS abettors & sympathizers within the army, IB, RAW and the entire security apparatus. The Mumbai terror attacks will thus draw away attention, as well as serve to justify the terrorist activities of the Sadhvi Pragnya's and the Purohit's and further lend to their glorification. ...

Amaresh Misra, "Mumbai Terror Attack: Further Evidence Of The Anglo-American-Mossad-RSS Nexus," Countercurrents.org. 03 Dec. 2008

Now who has the last laugh? That is the question; I only have pity for those who cannot see reality and who were so glib to buy into what the media and political troubleshooters were saying about the Mumbai terrorist attacks.

Consider this:

As a BBC report notes, at least some of the Mumbai attackers were not Indian and certainly not Muslim.Pappu Mishra, a cafe proprietor at the gothic Victorian Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station, described "two sprightly young men dressed in black" with AK47s who were "foreign looking, fair skinned."Gaffar Abdul Amir, an Iraqi tourist from Baghdad, saw at least two men who started the firing outside the Leopold Cafe. "They did not look Indian, they looked foreign. One of them, I thought, had blonde hair. The other had a punkish hairstyle. They were neatly dressed," Amir told the BBC.

[....]

This afore-mentioned report appeared on the BBC, a news agency which pro-west, Muslim-haters and all NRIs love to see. NOW I ASK THESE PEOPLE: why are you adopting double standards? Now a BBC report is incovenient because it militates against your idea of what happened in Mumbai?

[....]

According to Andrew G. Marshall, the ISI "has long been referred to as Pakistan's 'secret government' or 'shadow state.' It's long-standing ties and reliance upon American and British intelligence have not let up, therefore actions taken by the ISI should be viewed in the context of being a Central Asian outpost of Anglo-American covert intelligence operations."The presence of "foreign looking, fair skinned" commandos who calmly gunned down dozens of people after drinking a few beers indicates that the Mumbai attacks were likely the work of the Anglo-American covert intelligence operatives, not indigenous Indian Muslims or for that matter Arab al-Qaeda terrorists. The attacks prepare the ground for the break-up of Pakistan and the furtherance of destabilizing terrorism in the Middle East and Asia. The Mumbai attacks had little to do with India or the relationship between Muslim Pakistanis and Hindu Indians."Pakistan's position as a strategic focal point cannot be underestimated. It borders India, Afghanistan, China and Iran," concludes Marshall. "Destabilizing and ultimately breaking Pakistan up into several countries or regions will naturally spread chaos and destabilization into neighboring countries. This is also true of Iraq on the other side of Iran, as the Anglo-American have undertaken, primarily through Iraq, a strategy of balkanizing the entire Middle East in a new imperial project." (See Marshall's Divide and Conquer: The Anglo-American Imperial Project.)

Now I ask specifically: WHO HAS EGG ON THE FACE? MY DETRACTORS OR ME?

Andrew Marshall is a respected author; he is clearly saying here that terrorists looked like Anglo-American covert operatives and that the entire Mumbai operation was an attempt by Anglo-American forces to destabilize India and push it further into the Israel-US orbit.

[....]

One Police officer who encountered the gunmen as they entered the Jewish Center (Nariman House) said the attackers were white. "I went into the building late last night" he said. "I got a shock because they were white. I was expecting them to look like us. They fired three shots. I fired 10 back".

The Nariman House affair brings the Mossad angle to the fore. Two of the `hostages' killed in the Narimam House were identified as Rabbi Gabreil Holtzberg and his wife Rivka. They ran the center as spokespersons of the Chabad Lubavitch movement.

Now the Chabad movement is one of the many sects within Israel and Judaism. But of late it has come under the Zionist influence. Now what is Zionism? A brief digression would suffice: Zionism is the political ideology of racist Jews, just like Hindutva is the political ideology of a section of `race conscious' Hindus. Just as a majority of Sanatani Hindus have opposed Hindutva, a majority of Jews oppose Zionism and its fascist-anti-religious tone.

I calls 'em Left dhimmi fascists when they do as Raimondo do. To my own eye, they're all the same, except some are invested for better reasons than others. At least Muslims are Muslims. Being a dhimmi is something that the good sense of eludes me.Maybe there's a thrill in being a boy-bitch for a psycho that I just don't see. Justin, please don't tell. I have only so much patience.

Plato: Biggest Scammer in History

Neil Postman rightly refers to Plato as the world's first systematic fascist. Making mention of that usually raises the ire of those who don't have any idea of Plato's philosophies. Most people seem to highly regard the name "Plato," though they can't really say why. They defend him with no knowledge of what Plato was about. Some, such as that utter fool, I.F. Stone, confuse Plato with Socrates, and not only don't know there is the one and there is the other, but argue that Socrates is Plato. Stupidity knows no bounds, especially among our intelligentsia. Some thinkers, real thinkers, as opposed to the Conformity Hippies who rule the Academy these days as well, real thinkers such as Ernest Gellner, know Plato very well. Gellner, writing after Karl Popper, who wrote on Plato, The Open Society and its Enemies, puts Plato on the table for a nifty dissection, briefly thus:

"The profound paradox of Platonism proper is that it preached a return to, or a fortification of, the closed communally organized society: but it did so by means which themselves illustrated, highlighted, and sprang from that liberation from traditional ritualism and communalism. Plato represented dogmatism pursued by liberal means, an authoritarianism with a rational face." Ernest Gellner, Plough, Sword and Book. London: Collins Harvill: 1998; pp. 84-85.

Taken in, that's what too many of our intellectuals have been are to this day and beyond. We'll see one of them below. And a shameful example of a typical intellectual conformist he is. There is no excuse for an expert in the field to be so wrong on the facts as is the writer below. But if he were merely a fool, and a sloppy one at that, who would care? No, dear reader, it's far worse than that. The writer below is a danger to human freedom and to free people everywhere. We must confront him and those like him, stop them by making known the realities of history and literature from the texts as they are, not as one thinks they must be or should be, or should be thought so by the "average" man.

Kimon Valaskakis, "Media-enhanced 'dumb democracy' is the fastest road to totalitarianism." Globe and Mail; October 13, 2008.

Winston Churchill once argued that democracy is the worst political system except for all the others. While there is no viable alternative to democracy, contemporary flaws in the system - what I call "dumb democracy" - threaten to weaken it and produce counterproductive results. These flaws have become, alas, increasingly prevalent in both the Canadian and U.S. elections. Voters are making momentous decisions on the basis of the most trivial criteria.

The rise of Sarah Palin has been fuelled by her engaging smile and her appeal as a "hockey mom." Despite the constant mocking by the U.S. media deploring her lack of preparedness for high office, she appeals to the average voter, or "Joe Six-Pack American," as she calls him. In the U.S., average voters seem to want an average vice-president or even president to represent them. University professors are looked down on when aspiring for high political office, while celebrities, actors, sports stars and even former professional wrestlers get the nod.

Although this anti-intellectual bias is less predominant in Canada, both American and Canadian voters are very vulnerable to mediatic factors such as body language, winking at the audience, ability to tell jokes and being folksy and cute. This media-enhanced trivialization started in the first television debate between John Kennedy and Richard Nixon, and it's been said that JFK won the televised debate because of Mr. Nixon's sweaty face while Mr. Nixon won the radio debate because of his arguments. Today, the spin doctors and image makers try to appeal to the lowest common denominator. We are very far from Plato's philosopher king.

Some may argue that voting on trivial grounds is the prerogative of "the people," but this argument does not withstand analysis.

"The people" are made up of human beings. To err is human and, if one person can make a mistake, so can millions. There is no safety in numbers. The assumption that a majority of 50 plus 1 is always right and 50 minus 1 is always wrong is quite obviously absurd. The ancient Athenians and the fathers of modern democracy warned against populism's dangers.

"The people" change their minds all the time, as polls demonstrate. The Americans who elected and re-elected George W. Bush obviously regret their choice, since he is at 25 per cent in the approval ratings. Even John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, has distanced himself from Mr. Bush as much as possible. If a voter's opinion is exclusively decided on the basis of spin doctors' sound bites, huge blunders may be committed by the electorate - which will have to live with its mistake for four long years.

The outcome of the U.S. election affects the whole world, not just in economic terms but in issues of life and death. How many people have died around the world because of Mr. Bush's decisions? The privilege of empire must carry with it a greater sense of responsibility. The U.S. voter from the Midwest or Deep South must realize his or her decision has global implications and act accordingly.

So what can we conclude? Governance is much too serious a challenge in an interdependent world to be left to superficial criteria. Would you entrust your future to a person who doesn't answer your questions but just winks at you? Would you fly with an untrained pilot just because he reminds you of yourself ? Would you undergo an operation by an unqualified surgeon because he is charismatic?

A condition of intelligent democracy is intelligent and well-informed voters. It is the task of the media to inform the voters, but it also the task of the voters to take elections more seriously. Voting is a right, but it is also a privilege that must be used wisely because, when all is said and done, "dumb democracy" is the fastest road to totalitarianism.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20081013.CODEMOS13//TPStory/Comment

This man lies to you, dear reader. What he would have you believe is his smiling and concerned pose of Velvet Fascism. If you haven't read Plato, if you've missed Popper, if you aren't aware of the story the writer above doesn't tell you, let's take another brief look at Ernest Gellner for the time being.

Platonism is the supreme expression of agro-literate man, of a society endowed with a large and steady food-supply, capable of sustaining a minority elite endowed with the capacity to codify, formalize, and preserve its ethos and cognitive capital. It is stable and aspires to stability; and it is liable to consider radical change pathological. It recognizes and endorses the joint roles of the transcendent and of coercion in securing stability for society. The community is divided into the wise, the aggressive, and the hard-working. (Gellner: p. 118.) And that is it. The Philosopher Kings, the Thugs, and the slaves. Plato offers nothing else-- forever. Any change would be pathological. Platonists, as above, are not our friends: they are the enemies of the people.

The writer above is a fascist, pure and simple. He expresses the latest Platonist variant of Ur-fascism. "Voters are making momentous decisions on the basis of the most trivial criteria." Voters.

For example, and an anti-American one at that: "The rise of Sarah Palin has been fueled by her engaging smile and her appeal as a 'hockey mom'." If you don't get it thus far, how's this? "[S]he appeals to the average voter, or 'Joe Six-Pack American'."

But no; you, dear reader, are not supposed to be insulted by the writer's reference to you as "average" or "Joe Six-Pack." As this pimp tries to stoke your vanities, you are meant to see yourself as one just like the philosopher king above. You are superiour to the fools who like Sarah Palin. The fact that such is a pimp's bit of chicanery is seemingly lost on the good writer above. So, like a pimp, on he goes: "In the U.S., average voters seem to want an average vice-president or even president to represent them."

Average people? According to Plato there are no average people, so the good writer is using a euphemism, one meaning "slaves". The slaves want a slave as political representative. How shocking!

"University professors are looked down on when aspiring for high political office, while celebrities, actors, sports stars and even former professional wrestlers get the nod."

No, not Ion! Not an actor! Let us only allow ourselves to be ruled by university professors like the doctor above, Philosopher Kings, those who are smarter and better than the "average" man.

"Although this anti-intellectual bias is less predominant in Canada, both American and Canadian voters are very vulnerable to mediatic factors such as body language, winking at the audience, ability to tell jokes and being folksy and cute."

Canadians aren't generally as stupid as Americans. Thank you, dear writer. Aren't we clever after all? We might even be able to understand conversation, if not a coherent argument; but the rest, the slave masses, they have to rely on the non-verbal, the mediatic. This man is so far removed from common people that he assumes we'll be taken in by pimp talk.

Here he rues away his day: "We are very far from Plato's philosopher king."

No, sir. If only it were so. We are, in fact, in the presence of the typical Left dhimmi fascist would-be Phiospher King. There's no further need to critique this man's pseudo-argument.

"So what can we conclude? Governance is much too serious a challenge in an interdependent world to be left to superficial criteria."

No, I would conclude that governance is much too serious a challenge to leve to Gnostic fools like the one above, and that we must confront fascists like the fool above and defeat him in every venue, in every arena, in every agora. Monstrous evil such as that written by the fool above has no place in a democracy other than in the spittoon of common bar-room. Garbage sophistry posing as intellectual superiority. Don't stand for this. It's filthy and disgusting. To the trash-can of history with foolishness like Platonism. Down with the Philosopher Kings! Off with their shit-filled heads. Long live the Demos! Long live Sarah Palins! Long live Democracy. Long live the Average Person!

Election Night of the Living Dead

"I don't get how people can not vote for Obama. He's so inspiring. Every time I see him I think of the Foo Fighters song, "There goes my hero". That's pretty much because Obama is my hero.

I think he will make this world a better place. I'm pretty sure he will end world hunger and probably AIDS too. I just know he can do all this cause when I hear him speak I get excited on the inside."

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081014094746AAd2S8M

I quoted the genius above recently for the sake of the shock value; but I didn't realize then, which I certainly do now, that the shock's on me. Unlike the thrill of the Night of the Living Dead, I'm not enjoying this zombie take-over of the land. In fact, this horror-show is really scaring me. I don't mind being scared, as a rule. I live a pretty rough life, and part of the reason I do so is because it's so scary. But that's my personal life. The nation, that's a different story. That's something far more interesting and important than my own petty doing, no matter how important my petty doings might be to me. Unfortunately, many, maybe more than half of Americans, don't see that their petty doings are no more important to the nation than mine. They seem to think they actually matter to everyone. Sorry, but no one is that important. Nope. Not me, not even you, and especially not that fucking weasel Obama. The beauty of knowing ones one relative unimportance is in the knowing that none are much different, and that we must all go our own ways as well as we can without recourse to demagogues and demiurges to make us feel like we're something bigger than we are. A nation of ordinary folks doing their own thing is what makes the nation so great. That's America. What we see below is from one of Dante's middling circles of Hell. Which one? Maybe the one for self-satisfied gluttons and sloths and card-cheats. Here's our America. Look out, here come the zombies!

Rick Moran, "Meet the people who are going to put Obama in office." American Thinker. 15 Oct. 2008

This is really incredible. It stunned Ben Smith over at Politico where I got these quotes. It floored a GOP consultant who conducted the focus group where the people were quoted.

And it is perhaps the single most depressing thing I've read this entire campaign season:

The GOP consultant emailed Smith about a focus group he just finished conducting. Evidently, he showed a hard hitting ad on Ayers to the group and this was the email he sent:

Reagan Dems and Independents. Call them blue-collar plus. Slightly more Target than Walmart.

Yes, the spot worked. Yes, they believed the charges against Obama. Yes, they actually think he's too liberal, consorts with bad people and WON'T BE A GOOD PRESIDENT...but they STILL don't give a f***. They said right out, "He won't do anything better than McCain" but they're STILL voting for Obama.

The two most unreal moments of my professional life of watching focus groups:

54 year-old white male, voted Kerry '04, Bush '00, Dole '96, hunter, NASCAR fan...hard for Obama said: "I'm gonna hate him the minute I vote for him. He's gonna be a bad president. But I won't ever vote for another god-damn Republican. I want the government to take over all of Wall Street and bankers and the car companies and Wal-Mart run this county like we used to when Reagan was President."

The next was a woman, late 50s, Democrat but strongly pro-life. Loved B. and H. Clinton, loved Bush in 2000. "Well, I don't know much about this terrorist group Barack used to be in with that Weather guy but I'm sick of paying for health insurance at work and that's why I'm supporting Barack."

I felt like I was taking crazy pills. I sat on the other side of the glass and realized...this really is the Apocalypse. The Seventh Seal is broken and its time for eight years of pure, delicious crazy....
For the first time, I really feel scared about the future. These people are like the Germans in the election of 1933. They know what's coming but they don't care. Back then, all they cared about was that Hitler was going to give them a job and keep their lunch pails full. And stick it to the Jews. And restore Germany's "rightful place" in the world. They knew full well that Hitler would destroy the independent unions, crack down on dissent, and turn Germany from a very free country into a fascist dictatorship.

Part of this is McCain's fault. He bought into that populist crap about greedy Wall Street. Well, so as ye sow, so shall ye reap. And we're about to reap the whirlwind.

In this kind of atmosphere any kind of a government is possible. And I don't know if Obama can resist the kind of raw power these nincompoops are willing to give him. Who could?

You need a license to own a dog but any fool can vote.

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2008/10/meet_the_people_who_are_going.html

I'm keen of Godwin's Law, i.e. that to call an opponent a Nazi is to lose the argument. I'm not calling Osama Barka supporters Nazis. I refer to them instead a Death Hippies, Conformity Hippies, Povertarians, Irrationalists, Communitarians, and nutters. Many of the intelligentsia in support of Osama are Left dhimmi fascists. Few are going to be Nazis. But many of the above are going to feel emotionally right at home living the nightmare that was Nazi Germany.

First they'll come for Truepeers, then they'll come for Charles-- by which point I hope to be long gone outta here, maybe in some mountain hide-away in the jungles of Paraguay, formerly but seemingly not for much longer, "The Last Place on Earth for the Worst people in the World."
****

What about Sarah Palin? She spoke to Rush Limbaugh [transcript]. Of him I know nothing. Of Sarah Palin I know this:

"So, you know, I’m going out there and I’m just simply speaking. So be it that I’m a simple talker, but I’m just going out there and letting people know the differences and how absolutely paramount it is that voters are paying attention and that voters are understanding candidates’ records, their associations, their plans for the future; instead of being kind of wrapped up into all this rhetoric of Obama’s and buying into it and not holding him accountable for the things that he’s done, the things that he’s said, his associates, and where he wants to take America."

[Post Notes: Graphic from George Romero, Night of the Living Dead. Paraguay quotation from Rolling Stone Magazine. And I fixed up the genius's punctuation so I could read his comment properly.]

Anti-Americanism as Buffonery

Anti-Americanism is a form of mental illness, a manifestation of a personality disorder, and a fashion-statement all in one. What a bargain. If only there were some real money in it the world would be filthy rich. The problem is that the illness makes it nearly impossible to cope in the world. Anti-Americanism is a serious mental disorder and personality disorder that flourishes in weak people. Most of them start life with serious mental and personality disorders, and like the fool who starts out smoking crack "occasionally" and ends up a full-blown addict, so it is with the anti-American who finds his attitude has taken over whatever original mind and personality he might once have possessed, leaving him a shouting, maniacal, fucked-up lunatic. I got curious and looked into a bit of Buffon, and then turned to a review of Jean-Francois Revel, Anti-Americanism.

I've written a number of times here on Buffon, and more often on the origins of anti-Americanism. Here's a bit from wikipedia. I cut out most of it because it's so silly it wasn't worth looking at. I use these posts as resources for further writing, and this piece below is in line with that project. I keep what I hope will be of use. Hope it's of interest to you, too, dear reader, and also the final product, whenever that comes about.

The degeneracy thesis

The Comte de Buffon, a leading French naturalist, developed the "degeneracy thesis" in the mid-eighteenth century. It held that the American landmasses were inferior to Europe and in decline due to atmospheric conditions.

In the mid- to late-eighteenth century, a theory emerged among European intellectuals that the New World landmasses were inherently inferior to Europe. The so-called "degeneracy thesis" held that climatic extremes, humidity and other atmospheric conditions in America physically weakened both men and animals.[27] Two authors, James W. Ceaser and Philippe Roger, have interpreted this theory as a "a kind of prehistory of anti-Americanism." [4][28] Purported evidence for the idea included the smallness of American fauna, dogs that ceased to bark, and venomous plants;[29] one theory put forth was that the New World had emerged from the Biblical flood later than the Old World.[30] Native Americans were also held to be feeble, small, and without ardor.[31]

The theory originated with Comte de Buffon, a leading French naturalist, in his Histoire Naturelle (1766). [31] The French writer Voltaire joined Buffon and others in making the argument. [29] Dutchman Cornelius de Pauw, court philosopher to Frederick II of Prussia became its leading proponent.[4] While Buffon focused on the American biological environment, de Pauw attacked people native to the continent.[30] In 1768, he described America as "degenerate or monstrous" colonies and argued that, "the weakest European could crush them with ease."[32]

The theory was extended to argue that the natural environment of the United States would prevent it from ever producing true culture. Paraphrasing de Pauw, the French Encyclopedist Abbé Raynal wrote, "America has not yet produced a good poet, an able mathematician, one man of genius in a single art or a single science."[33] The theory was debated and rejected by early American thinkers such as Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson; Jefferson, in his Notes on the State of Virginia (1781), provided a detailed rebuttal of de Buffon.[4] Hamilton also vigorously rebuked the idea in Federalist No. 11 (1787).[31] The living examples of Jefferson and Franklin—vigorous geniuses and clearly not degenerate—helped refute the thesis.[30]

Research into the degeneracy idea dates to at least 1944 and the work of Italian historian Antonello Gerbi.[30] One critic, citing Raynal's ideas, suggests that it was specifically extended to the English colonies that would become the United States.[34]

Roger suggests that the idea of degeneracy posited a symbolic, as well as a scientific America, that would evolve beyond the original thesis. He argues that Buffon's ideas formed the root of a "stratification of negative discourses" that has recurred throughout the two countries' relationship (and has been matched by persistent anti-Gallic sentiment in the United States).[28]

Politics and ideology

The young United States also faced criticism on political and ideological grounds. Ceaser argues that the Romantic strain of European thought and literature, hostile to the Enlightenment view of reason and obsessed with history and national character, disdained the rationalistic American project. The German poet Nikolaus Lenau commented: "With the expression Bodenlosigkeit (absence of ground), I think I am able to indicate the general character of all American institutions; what we call Fatherland is here only a property insurance scheme." Ceaser argues in his essay that such comments often repurposed the language of degeneracy, and the prejudice came to focus solely on the United States and not Canada and Mexico. [4]

The nature of American democracy was also questioned. The sentiment was that the country lacked "[a] monarch, aristocracy, strong traditions, official religion, or rigid class system," according to Rubin, and its democracy was attacked by some Europeans in the early nineteenth century as degraded, a travesty, and a failure.[35] The French Revolution, which was loathed by many European conservatives, also implicated the United States and the idea of creating a constitution on abstract and universal principles.[4] That the country was intended to be a bastion of liberty was also seen as fraudulent given that it had been established with slavery.[36] ("How is it that we hear the loudest yelps for liberty among the drivers of negroes?" asked Samuel Johnson in 1775.[37] He famously stated that, "I am willing to love all mankind, except an American."[35])

With the rise of American industry in the late nineteenth century, intellectual anti-American discourse entered a new form. Mass production, the Taylor system, and the speed of American life and work became a major threat to some intellectuals' view of European life and tradition.

Friedrich Nietzsche wrote, "The breathless haste with which they (the Americans) work - the distinctive vice of the new world - is already beginning ferociously to infect old Europe and is spreading a spiritual emptiness over the continent."

It has been argued that this thesis transformed into a Heideggerian critique of technologism. Heidegger wrote in 1935: "Europe lies today in a great pincer, squeezed between Russia on the one side and America on the other. From a metaphysical point of view, Russia and America are the same, with the same dreary technological frenzy and the same unrestricted organization of the average man." Oswald Spengler had made similar claims in 1931's Man and Technics and his 1934 bestseller The Hour of Decision. In 1921, the Spaniard Luis Araquistáin wrote a book called El Peligro Yanqui ("The Yankee Peril"), in which he condemned American nationalism, mechanization, anti-socialism ("socialism is a social heresy there") and architecture, finding particular fault with the country's skyscrapers, which he felt diminished individuality and increased anonymity. He called the United States "a colossal child: all appetite..."[38]

As European immigration to the United States continued and the country's economic potential became more obvious, anti-American stances grew a much more explicit geopolitical dimension. A new strand of anti-American sentiment started to appear as America entered the competition for influence in the Pacific, and anti-Americanism was widespread among the Central Powers after the U.S. entered the First World War. Furthermore, many of the anti-American ideological threads spread to other areas, such as Japan and Latin America, where Continental philosophy was popular and growing American power was increasingly viewed as a threat. In political terms, even among the allies of the United States, Britain and France, there was resentment at the end of the war as they found themselves massively in debt to the United States. These sentiments became even more widespread during the interbellum and Great Depression and sometimes tended toward the anti-Semitic: the belief that America was ruled by a Jewish conspiracy was common in countries ruled by fascists before and during World War II.

French author Jean-François Revel wrote that "For skeptics of democratic capitalism, the United States is, quite simply, the enemy. For many years, and still today, a principal function of anti-Americanism has been to discredit the nation that stands as the supreme alternative to socialism. More recently, Islamists, anti-modern Greens, and others have taken to pillorying the U.S. for the same reason."[26]The belief that America was ruled by a Jewish conspiracy or that Israel was an American puppet state has also motivated anti-American hatred in some circles during the last third of the 20th century.

In early 2002, the #1 best seller in France was L'Effroyable imposture, which claimed that 9/11 was a conspiracy orchestrated by the U.S. government[50]. It broke the French record for first-month book sales.[51] In Europe in 2002, vandalism of American companies was reported in Venice, Athens, Berlin, Zürich, Tbilisi, and Moscow.[52]

French anti-americanism predates the founding of the United States with the belief that it was a barbaric land and all who went there also degenerated.[54] A particularly strong source of anti-americanism has been the European Extreme-Right. This has been very visible in the French National Front, for example.[55]

A widening net

I think I'm missing something when I read the following piece: A Dutchman complains to the police that he's being victimized by a Dutchman who draws cartoons. The cartoons are 'racist.' A Dutchman converts to Islam, but what race does that make him? I would have thought he'd still be Dutch. What do I know? Obviously not as much as the ten cops who arrested the cartoonist. Ten cops to bust a cartoonist. That's gotta be some deadly pencil he wields. Quick on the draw, maybe. And the paper? Well, maybe it's criminal paper somehow. Yeah, ten cops to bust a guy for cartoons. It's as good or better [read "worse] than Rachel Davis or Bill Simpson complaining about Death Hippies at the Carnegie Centre in Vancouver, Canada. Worse perhaps than Mark Styne, Ezra Levant, and company. And that's just the locals. Wafa Sultan, Ayaan Hirsi Ai, Ibn Warraq, Ali Sina, all those racists, what are we going to do? It looks like the Death Hippies will arrest everyone. And the way to do it is to create a police state so the whole place, walking or sitting, is a prison.

The Dutch authorities have arrested the cartoonist Gregorius Nekschot (a pseudonym. Nekschot means deathblow, litt: "shot in the back of the neck" [An interview with Nekschot here]). The judicial authorities in Amsterdam said yesterday that the cartoonist was arrested as a suspect for the criminal offense of "publishing cartoons which are discriminating for Muslims and people with dark skin."

The cartoonist was arrested on Tuesday, while the police searched his house for "discriminating evidence." His computer, backups, usb sticks, mobile phone and a number of drawings were confiscated. Nekschot was released two days later but it is possible that he will be charged following a complaint in 2005 by the Dutch imam Abdul Jabbar van de Ven, an indigenous Dutchman who converted to Islam.

[....]

Nekschot, a friend of the late Theo van Gogh, the Dutch film maker who was ritually slaughtered by a Muslim fanatic in 2004, hides his real identity in order to avoid unnecessary risks. Hans Teeuwen, a Dutch stand-up comedian and friend of Nekschot's, told the Dutch media yesterday that the police had told Nekschot as they released him earlier that day that "he has now lost his anonymity." Teeuwen said this was "a rather intimidating remark."

As spokeswoman of Xtra, Nekschot's publisher, said today: "He was arrested with a great show of force, by around 10 policemen." The spokeswoman asked that her name not be used because the cartoonist and publisher have received death threats. Nekschot told the Dutch newspaper Het Parool today that police officers had told him: "What you draw is worse than what they did in Denmark. Do you realize what can happen to you if your identity gets known?" The cartoonist fears for his live if he is being sent to jail. "As the maker of those cartoons my life is in danger in prison," he said.

Nekschot's work is rude and often sexually explicit. As such it is characteristic for the Dutch liberal mentality and not beyond the limit in the Netherlands. In his cartoons, however, he mocks the multicultural society, and that does seem to be beyond all bounds.

Marisol at Dhimmiwatch leads with this:

"We suspect him of insulting people": Dutch cartoonist could face years in prison

He could end up serving more time than some jihadists in European criminal justice systems do on terrorism charges.

[....]

A spokeswoman for the Amsterdam public prosecutor, Sanne van Meteren, said Nekschot remains a suspect in a criminal investigation.

"We suspect him of insulting people on the basis of their race or belief, and possibly also of inciting hate," she said.

Each is a crime punishable by up to a year in prison under Dutch hate laws - or two years for multiple offences.

Van Meteren said prosecutors were investigating a complaint that dates to 2005. They are now focusing on eight or nine published cartoons, she said, but prosecutors are not disclosing which ones.

Let's face it: most people in the West do not care at all about freedom of speech. They don't care one little bit. They'll apathetically accept a police state without a complaint. It's the nature of things. Only a few will try to preserve and extend our right to freedom. Yes, there's a high price to pay for it. You might end up in jail. But really, what's the difference? You might get out one day and find yourself in a better place than the one you left rather than languishing in a deteriorating place on the outside. Erich Fromm knew it first-hand. We're learning quickly:

"We have been compelled to recognize that millions in Germany were as eager to surrender their freedom as their fathers were to fight for it; that instead of wanting freedom, they sought ways of escape from it; that other millions were indifferent and did not believe the defense of freedom to be worth fighting and dying for. We also recognize that the crisis of democracy is not a particularly Italian or German problem, but one confronting every modern state. ....

[F]reedom is not less endangered if attacked in the name of anti-fascism than in that of outright Fascism. This truth has been so forcefully formulated by John Dewey that I express the thought in his words: 'The serious threat to our democracy' he says, 'is not the existence of foreign totalitarian states. It is the existence within our own personal attitudes and within our own institutions of conditions which have given a victory to external authority, discipline, uniformity and dependence upon The Leader in foreign countries. The battlefield is also here-- within ourselves and our institutions.' "

Erich Fromm, Escape From Freedom. Avon: New York. !941; rpt 1966; pp. 19-20.

It doesn't matter who you are. If you live in a police state and you don't care, then things will become worse daily. Whether you care or not, daily your life will worsen. So, in the event that things get drastic, we'll stand on the street-corner soon in Vancouver to wave our placards in support of Styne when his hearing comes up. What a great thing to be arrested for fighting for freedom.

No? Then see what it is to live in a prison without even needing to be arrested. Your whole state a prison, and never any escape from it. Your life itself a prison.
