A comic book reality

There is a gulf separating sentimentality from grief that too many Westerners do not realise the existence of. I sometimes hear the sentimental going on about suffering in the world all caused by America, and how poor the suffering are and lachrymosa ya ya. I chased one across a parking lot, trying to catch him so I could beat him with a metal chair. A cast iron chair, at that. Lucky for me I couldn't get him. He would have learned the meaning of real pain... though he did learn the meaning of real terror. Ha. I missed him. Lucky me. Real suffering? How's this.

“Liberian mercenaries returning from western Ivory Coast tell the Monitor that they recently fought for both sides in Ivory Coast’s civil war, killing civilians, raping women, and destroying villages as they went.” They were surprisingly cheap. For $1,500 per brute you could get as much violence as you could possibly want. And then you could renege on the deal and get even more brutality out of the enraged mercenary, as he retaliated on whoever was available. Kind of like buy one take one, no interest payments, eat all you want.

When I encounter sentimentalists who love feeling other people's pain for moral fun, I lose my good temper. I hate leftards. I hate the cheap smugness and the posing and the sneering. I'd love to go Liberian on them. But, hey, who's tossing around $1,500.00 bucks to make it even sort of worth the while? Nobody I know. Everybody I know knows the leftard sentimentalist isn't worth a cent. The leftist Death Hippie is the certain cause of most of the trouble in Africa and Asia today, but he's still not worth killing just because.

Richard Fernandez gets it right. I've seen it.

Forget chairs. It makes me want to take an axe to Death Hippies.

A propos to not a thing at all.

Limpieza Social, EscuadrĂ³nas de la Muerte, and You.

When one mentions "social cleansing," the first thing most people assume is "death squads." There's no reason to assume that today's common assumptions are particularly meaningful to those other than today's opinionators. Things change, and so do assumptions from here to there and in between. Social cleansing might to some mean the Nazi genocide against Jews, the murder of Gypsies, the killing of eugenically unwanted others in German territories, e.g. the deaf, and so on. But that's not the end of understanding social cleansing, nor the end of death squads. When I think of these things, I think of you.

My friend Rachel pointed out, (that depending on where one is and where one comes from,) how strange normal can be. Most people are "normal." That can mean some horrible things about horrible people. But it means they are, if not now, at least born educable. Maybe now they're beyond redemption, so enured to evil that they're beyond redemption in the greater world of Man. I'm one of those "normal" types. If I had my druthers, I'd kill a lot of folks. That would be a good thing. That's why I think of you.

A buddy once said, "There should be an ad. in the paper calling for death squad members." Long pause waiting for me to jump in saying I'd join up. "And then they should kill those who answer." So, I think of you, and I wonder who will protect you from lunatics who will come to the call. That call comes daily, sometimes in the newspaper. Funny how so few people pay attention to the fact that it's so obvious and lethal, and that the call is well attended. We see it every day. It's not that no one says anything about it, which might be some relief, it's that so many are so enthused about it, or at least in excusing it and then glamorising it. If it were up to me, I'd kill lots of those folks. I'd kill them because they want to kill you, and I assume, rightly for the most part, that you are what I would call normal. You, dear reader, are not likely one to call for social cleansing. More likely still, you're not likely to go out and try to do it by killing strangers at random just because of the way they live their lives, well or not-- according to you. I take you, the average reader, to be a normal and decent person who has no real concern about the lives of most people. I assume you're a private person with a personal life that you live to the best of your ability. I like that, and I hope it for most if not all people. But we know that there are many who take the call personally and go forth and cleanse till the blood runs thick and deep in the streets. I'd join up in killing such folks, at least in my dreams.

When we use the Spanish language to cite death squads practising social cleansing, we mean something evil. We limit our understanding to Spanish-speaking people, mostly "right wing" death squads run by military dictators in dark sunglasses and shady multi-millionaires emerging occasionally from luxury jungle retreats for photo ops with minor European politicians, when we speak of "Death Squads." Why? well, obviously, Death Squads are bad, and for the average multi-culti suburbanite metro-sexual at a cocktail party it won't do to speak well of such people. Say "Death Squad" and everyone cringes and hisses. Call them damned near anything else and one finds a swarm of simpering Leftards lining up to coo and mince. I'm not saying we should kill the average Obama-supporting idiot just because they support, at least in word if not in deed, death squads. If one were to punch such a person in the face and then piss on his proneness, well, being the nice guy that I am, I'd have to say that's not right. When it comes to those who promote death squads, actively pursue their formation and delegation and entry into the world to do their work, those are folks I would happily kill with my own bare hands. I don't like death squad people. When they kill normal and average people like you, which they do on a daily basis, I don't care what leftards call them. Leftards make me sick; and I would kill the death escuardranos, no matter what others call them.

But I'm not killing anyone, and I don't intend to. I'm pretty average and normal, given that I live in a land of law and reason. I just live my life privately and wish others would do the same. But they don't and they won't and probably they can't. Our nation is filling up with people who are or will be death squad members, and they are actively encouraged to kill at random by cheerleaders among us. What I'd like to do and what I will do have little in common. Stirling Silliphant writes that if you could be invisible and no one would ever know what you did, what would you do? One man writes that if he were invisible it wouldn't matter, he'd still look the same to his wife. He's lucky. I think many people would find they look pretty bad to themselves. I think I would. But I live in the real world where thoughts aren't yet outright crimes. So I'm not killing anyone. Not even members of death squads. I don't even punch out Death Hippies cheering on death squad members. I should, but I don't.

Europeans aren't even the worst for cheering death squads on. We can find Americans going at it full-tilt. Europeans are mostly cowards, plainly so since that's what they do, cower and tremble and give favours to death escuadranos. Call it what we will, acting that way is cowardly. But Americans doing that must be, for the most part, really into it for some evil reason. But America just ain't Europe. In America we don't always roll over and grit our teeth when we get screwed. Sometimes, sometimes even often, we fight back. That makes me concerned about you, dear average person reader.

How long till you face the death squads in person in your home and find you have to fight on your own because the Death Hippies have let the death squads loose in your land? When our government condemns you for anguishing over the destruction of our nation and our homes, when our government and our social leaders are committed to promoting death squads in our land against you, when you are the ones to be socially cleansed from the nation, then my thoughts turn to you, and I wonder: Are you as lazy and apathetic as I? Will you sit back and let yourself and your family and community be slaughtered by death squads because to object raises the ire of Death Hippies who love death squads on the loose?

Everything gets to be normal if one lives with it long enough. You can, maybe will, maybe have already, accustomed yourself to strange and evil. Death squads run amok and we mostly don't do a thing about it. Leftists cheer them on. I sit and wonder how long you can stand it.

They rampage against each other, dear reader. I wonder what they would do to you.

Jewel's Gem

Below is an introduction to some elegant and intelligent writing by our friend Jewel, writing about the difference between a half-naked creep celebrating some nihilistic personal urge to destroy, and the making of a high-precision and high-intelligence piece of work in the form of a musical instrument. This is one of the nicest pieces of short prose I've read in a long time. The link at the bottom will take you to the original.

Is the young anarchist in the photograph proud of himself? Is he? He is all but naked, he is holding in his teeth a pair of very expensive sunglasses, and though frozen for a moment forever, you can make out the swagger of a man who believes he has accomplished something very important with his wanton act of vandalism. He has made a statement, of course.

Death to the police! The law be damned.

But I am not interested in him...he's a piece of wondrous crapmanship, all right. No. It is the trumpet that has caught my eye.

The trumpet was made according to very strict guidelines. The combination of copper and nickel and other metals was exact, the precise width and bend of the pipes were carefully hammered out, and it was passed on to someone else who buffed and cleaned and polished and buffed again and again and again.

The Range of the Cruel

There's a man who works in rural Kansas repairing downed telephone lines. He thinks he should take a vacation soon but there's work still to do, and there's more coming. He'll hold off on the vacation. His work is important, for its own sake, of course, to him, to those who rely on him, unknown though he likely is to those who rely upon him. He's just one guy doing his job, like so many others, all of whom together in some way make our Modernity what it is, good or ill. There's this guy who's a Wichita lineman. He misses his girlfriend when he's out working, but he hears her voice in the hum of the wire.

I think God invented telephone poles and street-lamps just so we can use them to hang Death Hippies. I think of it as an aesthetic action, what we might call "Art." I'm an artsy guy. I'd like to have been an ordinary guy who goes to work maintaining telephone lines, a guy who has a steady girlfriend, a guy who loves someone. But deep down deep I'm really a Leftist. I love the action of "saving the world." In many ways, most of them nasty and cruel, I'm like:

Kathleen Crocetti
I'm an art maker, very social, and being the first born in a large family I am a natural orchestrator too. I'm happiest when orchestrating community arts activities.

The difference between me and her: I like people. I like people who are ordinary folk, who have jobs and families, and who care about the work they do because it gives them personal satisfaction and gives others a better life for it. I'd be a better man if I would tramp through the snow-drifts of a Kansas winter to repair a downed line so folks could call who cares whom. But, damn me anyway, I like the action of saving the world and being a vicious guy who does horrible things to folks. Uh huh. I'm really at heart a Leftist. But I like people, so it makes me an anti-Leftist Leftist. Some folks, uninformed and mostly stupid Leftist sentimentalists, like to call me a fascist. That wouldn't bother me so much if they knew what they meant by the word, which I do and they usually don't. If they knew, then I could correct them by saying, "No, I'm not a fascist. I'm a cowboy."

Thanks to Blazing Cat Fur for saving the Death Hippie's copy from oblivion so we can see it for what it is. Many fine comments:

Dead Leaves in a Leftist Hate-Storm

This is what passes for Democrats in America today:

Republican Congressman Connie Mack sent out a press release on Sept. 8. His [press aide] received this reply from John Guerra, a reporter for the Key West Citizen in Florida:

“The Republican Party is now a mentally ill group of people who want nothing more than to destroy Obama’s first term no matter how much the country needs his policies. I despise your party’s activities and the hatred you spew on Fox and other sounding boards for the insurance companies. Please don’t you dare get him killed, which is the underlying goal of you right wing nuts.”

Via Big Government, which noted: “We have reached out to Mr. Guerra for his version of events. No comment yet, but we will keep you posted if we hear anything.”

http://blogs.dailymail.com/donsurber/archives/2257

The reporter at Key West Citizen is listed in the staff box as: Education & Social Services: John Guerra

I think that there is a frenzy in the West that is bubbling over the top into genuine madness. It hardly matters what the subject is, George Bush, Dick Cheney, Haliburton, oil companies, Christians, Jews, Israel, Sarah Palin, "global warming," or anything the Left decides to discuss, they scream that they are absolutely right and those who question them are evil. It's a religious frenzy. These people are seriously dangerous now, and they'll become moreso in time. It's a Leftist hate-storm.

There's a reason for it: those who rage in this frenzied state are getting a kick out of it. It makes them feel good. They like the intensity of the emotion. It makes no difference to them that it makes no sense, they aren't in it for sense. They like the thrill of the rage. It's for people who have nothing else, no personalities of their own, no real emotion other than what they can scrape up from others, sentimentality and cynicism. These are empty and sick people. There's one reason we should care:

They are Death hippies getting a lot of normal and decent people killed. That comes with a price-tag. They have to pay for this. They don't get it. but they will. Nothing is free in this life.

It's very hard to love these people, even if they are our own. It wasn't always this way. But today our own are some of the most vile people on Earth. Mabe Jacques Prevert was thinking of collaborators when he wrote the song below, sung by Juliette Greco:

U B U 2 U

Even now in the middle of a very long and eccentric life I find myself sometimes wincing and grimacing over the unbidden rise of memories from random experiences that just won't go away in spite of whatever discipline I use to keep them away. Some ugly memories are scars that won't fade. One such nasty memory is of a repulsive young woman at a dance hall whose tee-shirt bore the caption: "I wouldn't wanna be you."

I can appreciate the idea of not wanting to be you. Regardless of who I might be, I'd rather be me than not. I don't want to be you. Fair enough. But I don't want you not to be you. Islam, for all its obvious faults, at least understands that no one is ever going to be the Perfect Man, he being, according to Islam, Mohammed, not to be repeated, only imitated. Islam, for all its totalitarianism, doesn't attempt to make anyone into the kind of person "we all should be." Islam settles for orthopraxy, for outward ritual behaviour. For the totalitarian Leftist, this is not enough. He not only rejects you as you but demands that you conform to his vision of the Ideal Man as you. It's one thing not to want to be me; but it is something creepy to not want me to be me. That's me The Individualist writing. I value Privacy. Muslims and the Left value Publicity. No, I wouldn't want to be you, but that's not a problem for me. It is a problem for the communitarian.

For the communitarian, the idea of Another not being a conformist in all ways, body, mind and soul, is an outrage against Nature. Communitarians, Statists, Muslims, collectivists of all sorts, they hate individuals and individualism. Usually this is of no concern to most of us. Unfortunately, there is a growing movement of middle-aged hippies in government and areas of social control, e.g our universities, who are fanatical in their drive to make all others "not themselves." We must all be One.
I'm rereading Matthew Arnold today. I read Arnold as a young man, ( not, at the time, realizing that in the doing I was preparing myself for marriage in middle-age,) from a sense of duty rather than passion. Today, for me, he raises the question of the benefits of Culture, by which he means High Culture of the mid-Victorian era. He writes of others as in need of the education they lack, an education which makes their philistine lives "hole and corner." Like most people, he doesn't like people not like himself. He writes of others: "Consider these people, then, their way of life, their habits, their manners, the very tones of their voice; look at them attentively; observe the literature they read, the things which give them pleasure, the words which come from their mouths, the thoughts which make the furniture of their minds; would any amount of wealth be worth having with the condition that one was to become just like these people by having it?"1.

Good grief! Would I want to be a man like him? Not for all the money on Earth. Wouldn't even want to be Elvis. Nor does Arnold, for all his obnoxious snobbery, intend anyone to think others should be him or like him. In that he is ultimately far superior to the average Leftist. Arnold's snobbery begins and ends with himself. He did not kill anyone in a futile and hubristic attempt to make a New Man. Such cannot be said of the Death Hippies who today rule our many nations of Modernity, lands of Sweetness and Light, where ignorant Leftards clash on sight.

Who then is the Humanist? He who doesn't want to be you is probably fine with not being you. He who doesn't like you is probably fine with that too. It is he who doesn't want you to be you who is the man we must not tolerate. I wouldn't be someone else for all the money on Earth. Nor would I want to make another not himself even if that someone is someone I'd gladly hang from a lamp-post. People have rights, innately, and the most basic right is to be their own Lords. Sometimes others are so disgusting I can't shake the horror of the vision of them; but that's my problem, not theirs. I can live with it. Can our collectivist Culture Curators? Can we live with them?

In a famous speech in 1961, Che Guevara denounced the very "spirit of rebellion" as "reprehensible."

"Youth must refrain from ungrateful questioning of governmental mandates" commanded Guevara. "Instead, they must dedicate themselves to study, work, and military service." And woe to those youths "who stayed up late at might and thus reported to work [government forced-labor] tardily."

"Youth," wrote Guevara, "should learn to think and act as a mass." "Those who chose their own path" [...] were denounced as worthless "lumpen" and "delinquents." In his famous speech Che Guevara even vowed, "to make individualism disappear from Cuba! It is criminal to think of individuals!"

Election Night of the Living Dead

"I don't get how people can not vote for Obama. He's so inspiring. Every time I see him I think of the Foo Fighters song, "There goes my hero". That's pretty much because Obama is my hero.

I think he will make this world a better place. I'm pretty sure he will end world hunger and probably AIDS too. I just know he can do all this cause when I hear him speak I get excited on the inside."

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081014094746AAd2S8M

I quoted the genius above recently for the sake of the shock value; but I didn't realize then, which I certainly do now, that the shock's on me. Unlike the thrill of the Night of the Living Dead, I'm not enjoying this zombie take-over of the land. In fact, this horror-show is really scaring me. I don't mind being scared, as a rule. I live a pretty rough life, and part of the reason I do so is because it's so scary. But that's my personal life. The nation, that's a different story. That's something far more interesting and important than my own petty doing, no matter how important my petty doings might be to me. Unfortunately, many, maybe more than half of Americans, don't see that their petty doings are no more important to the nation than mine. They seem to think they actually matter to everyone. Sorry, but no one is that important. Nope. Not me, not even you, and especially not that fucking weasel Obama. The beauty of knowing ones one relative unimportance is in the knowing that none are much different, and that we must all go our own ways as well as we can without recourse to demagogues and demiurges to make us feel like we're something bigger than we are. A nation of ordinary folks doing their own thing is what makes the nation so great. That's America. What we see below is from one of Dante's middling circles of Hell. Which one? Maybe the one for self-satisfied gluttons and sloths and card-cheats. Here's our America. Look out, here come the zombies!

Rick Moran, "Meet the people who are going to put Obama in office." American Thinker. 15 Oct. 2008

This is really incredible. It stunned Ben Smith over at Politico where I got these quotes. It floored a GOP consultant who conducted the focus group where the people were quoted.

And it is perhaps the single most depressing thing I've read this entire campaign season:

The GOP consultant emailed Smith about a focus group he just finished conducting. Evidently, he showed a hard hitting ad on Ayers to the group and this was the email he sent:

Reagan Dems and Independents. Call them blue-collar plus. Slightly more Target than Walmart.

Yes, the spot worked. Yes, they believed the charges against Obama. Yes, they actually think he's too liberal, consorts with bad people and WON'T BE A GOOD PRESIDENT...but they STILL don't give a f***. They said right out, "He won't do anything better than McCain" but they're STILL voting for Obama.

The two most unreal moments of my professional life of watching focus groups:

54 year-old white male, voted Kerry '04, Bush '00, Dole '96, hunter, NASCAR fan...hard for Obama said: "I'm gonna hate him the minute I vote for him. He's gonna be a bad president. But I won't ever vote for another god-damn Republican. I want the government to take over all of Wall Street and bankers and the car companies and Wal-Mart run this county like we used to when Reagan was President."

The next was a woman, late 50s, Democrat but strongly pro-life. Loved B. and H. Clinton, loved Bush in 2000. "Well, I don't know much about this terrorist group Barack used to be in with that Weather guy but I'm sick of paying for health insurance at work and that's why I'm supporting Barack."

I felt like I was taking crazy pills. I sat on the other side of the glass and realized...this really is the Apocalypse. The Seventh Seal is broken and its time for eight years of pure, delicious crazy....
For the first time, I really feel scared about the future. These people are like the Germans in the election of 1933. They know what's coming but they don't care. Back then, all they cared about was that Hitler was going to give them a job and keep their lunch pails full. And stick it to the Jews. And restore Germany's "rightful place" in the world. They knew full well that Hitler would destroy the independent unions, crack down on dissent, and turn Germany from a very free country into a fascist dictatorship.

Part of this is McCain's fault. He bought into that populist crap about greedy Wall Street. Well, so as ye sow, so shall ye reap. And we're about to reap the whirlwind.

In this kind of atmosphere any kind of a government is possible. And I don't know if Obama can resist the kind of raw power these nincompoops are willing to give him. Who could?

You need a license to own a dog but any fool can vote.

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2008/10/meet_the_people_who_are_going.html

I'm keen of Godwin's Law, i.e. that to call an opponent a Nazi is to lose the argument. I'm not calling Osama Barka supporters Nazis. I refer to them instead a Death Hippies, Conformity Hippies, Povertarians, Irrationalists, Communitarians, and nutters. Many of the intelligentsia in support of Osama are Left dhimmi fascists. Few are going to be Nazis. But many of the above are going to feel emotionally right at home living the nightmare that was Nazi Germany.

First they'll come for Truepeers, then they'll come for Charles-- by which point I hope to be long gone outta here, maybe in some mountain hide-away in the jungles of Paraguay, formerly but seemingly not for much longer, "The Last Place on Earth for the Worst people in the World."
****

What about Sarah Palin? She spoke to Rush Limbaugh [transcript]. Of him I know nothing. Of Sarah Palin I know this:

"So, you know, I’m going out there and I’m just simply speaking. So be it that I’m a simple talker, but I’m just going out there and letting people know the differences and how absolutely paramount it is that voters are paying attention and that voters are understanding candidates’ records, their associations, their plans for the future; instead of being kind of wrapped up into all this rhetoric of Obama’s and buying into it and not holding him accountable for the things that he’s done, the things that he’s said, his associates, and where he wants to take America."

Eugenics as a Socialist Project

The following feature from the National Post covers one of the main themes of this blog so nicely that I run it in full and hope it spreads to every mind on Earth, it being an excellent summary of eugenics and a great piece on socialists in general. Socialists: I call them Death Hippies for a number of reasons, and this piece will shed more light on at least one reason:

Michael Coren: Don't blame right-wing thugs for eugenics — Socialists made it fashionable
Posted: June 16, 2008, 3:01 PM by Marni Soupcoff

An exhibition of the history of those scientific ideas that gave a grimy intellectual veneer to the Nazi genocide opens this week at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. The collection centres on eugenics, the notion that humanity can be improved and perfected by selective breeding and the elimination of individuals and groups considered to be undesirable. Entitled Deadly Medicine: Creating the Master Race, it reveals how it was not thoughtless right-wing thugs as much as writers and scientists, the intellectual elite, who led the movement.

The exhibit is important, accurate but, regrettably, long overdue. It also fails to stress just how much the socialist left initiated and supported the eugenics campaign, not only in Germany but in Britain, the U.S. and the rest of Europe. Playwright George Bernard Shaw, English social democrat leader Sydney Webb and, in Canada, Tommy Douglas were just three influential socialists who called, for example, for the mass sterilization of the handicapped. In his Master's thesis The Problems of the Subnormal Family, the now revered Douglas argued that the mentally and even physically disabled should be sterilized and sent to camps so as not to "infect" the rest of the population.

It is deeply significant that few if any of Douglas's left-wing comrades in this country or internationally were surprised or offended by his proposals. Indeed the early fascism of 1920s Italy, while unsavoury and dictatorial, had little connection with social engineering and eugenics. The latter German version of fascism was influenced not by ultra conservatism in southern Europe but, as is made clear in the writings of the Nazi ideologues, by the Marxist left.

The most vociferous and outspoken of the social eugenicists was the novelist HG Wells, author of The Time Machine, The War of the Worlds and The Invisible Man. He argued in best-selling books such as Anticipations and A Modern Utopia that the world would collapse and from this collapse a new order should and would emerge.

"People throughout the world whose minds were adapted to the big-scale conditions of the new time. A naturally and informally organised educated class, an unprecedented sort of people." A strict social order would be formed. At the bottom of it were the base. These were "people who had given evidence of a strong anti-social disposition", including "the black, the brown, the swarthy, the yellow." Christians would also "have to go" as well as the handicapped. Wells devoted entire pamphlets to the need of "preventing the birth, preventing the procreation or preventing the existence" of the mentally and physically handicapped. "This thing, this euthanasia of the weak and the sensual is possible. I have little or no doubt that in the future it will be planned and achieved."

The people of Africa and Asia, he said, simply could never find a place in a modern world controlled by science. Better to do away with the lot. "I take it they will have to go" he said of them. Marriage as it is known would have to end but couples could form mutually agreed unions. They would list their "desires, diseases, needs" on little cards and a central authority would decide who was fitted for whom.

Population would be rigidly controlled, with forced abortion for those who were not of the right class and race. Religion would be banned, children would be raised in communes and all would be well. The old and the ill would, naturally, have to be done away with and doctors would be given the authority to decide who had a right to live, who had a duty to die.

In the United States socialist writer Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood and the mother of the abortion movement, called for a radical eugenics approach as early as the first years of the 20th century. She wrote of the need for "a stern and rigid policy of sterilization and segregation to that grade of population whose progeny is already tainted or whose inheritance is such that objectionable traits may be transmitted to offspring. It is a vicious cycle; ignorance breeds poverty and poverty breeds ignorance. There is only one cure for both, and that is to stop breeding these things. Stop bringing to birth children whose inheritance cannot be one of health or intelligence. Stop bringing into the world children whose parents cannot provide for them. Herein lies the key of civilization."

The key of civilization. Unlocking the doors of a hell once unimaginable but now, after the Holocaust, the Ukrainian genocide, Pol Pot and Mao's mass slaughter, entirely within the grasp of contemporary sensibilities. History is often clouded by fashion and the whims of the victorious. Because some of the most pernicious intellectual criminals of the past century wore red they have escaped condemnation. It is time for the clouds to clear and the fashions to change.

I'm busy writing my response to the question, "What is fascism?" This is one part of one aspect of the answer. Of course many people won't like it, the look at what fascism is, what socialism is. It challenges conventional wisdom. The truth about socialism will destroy careers. It will ruin reputations and it'll ruin lives. Such is life. Truth hurts sometimes. I don't like it fairly often. Nothing to do but struggle on and hope, maybe thanking the gods for a bit of insight, and perhaps feeling some gratitude that one can know rather than live in ignorance or self-induced stupidity forever. I hope I live for a thousand years so I can learn enough to be a decent person. It'll probably take at least that long even though I try hard to do better. Those who resist can likely hold out for many thousands of years. There ain't so much time. Get what we can and hope, I say.

Rattle and Chain: Night of the Death Hippies

I picked this up from Terry Glavin:

On Wednesday, April 16, Canada-Afghanistan Solidarity Committee co-founder Lauryn Oates will be debating Stopwar.ca co-chair Derrick O'Keefe. The proposition: "THE CANADIAN MILITARY SHOULD LEAVE AFGHANISTAN AT ONCE".

This debate is part of the Langara Dialogues series, held at the Vancouver Public Library's central branch.
****

I came, I saw, I conked out. I left the Vancouver Public Library debate this evening after ninety minutes of what moderator David Berner called "a muscular debate," on 'The presence of Canadian armed forces in Afghanistan: Should they stay or should they go?' and I found myself thinking of the political theorist so popular in the 1960s, C. Joseph McDonald, well-know author of thesis and synthesis on war and conflict in Southeast Asia. McDonald wrote, if I recall it properly; "One, two, three, four; what the hell are we fighting for? Five, six, seven, eight; open up the Pearly Gate. Who pee we are all going to die." It was a profound experience I can tell you.

One of Canada's leading intellectuals, Derrik O'Keefe, of Stop War, spoke in favor of Canadian troops leaving Afghanistan immediately or so. He was really really convincing. He said, for example, that the whole imperialist venture is because the Americans, (meaning Bush and his cabal of neo-cons,) are really really greedy and they want to capture Afghanistan so they can control a copper mine. They tried to get it but the Chinese got it instead so it's OK. Americans are bad because they bomb villagers and kill really big numbers of innocent civilians and stuff and the people don't like it and Canada should stop listening to Steven Harper who only does things because Bush tells him to and that's because of the neo-cons. They are bad. And torture? Americans do that to nice people who don't deserve it because they are nice. It's imperialism because some corporations are pulling the strings that-- I don't know-- maybe rip out the fingernails of babies or something, just like typical American war-mongrels do.

War is bad. One might say war is poopy.

We should get out of Afghanistan because America made the Taliban up and now it supports war-lords who sell lots of opium that causes medical problems for the socially marginalized on the streets of Vancouver who don't have homes though they have a right to them and more buses at night too.

Well, I'm bored to tears. I suffered through 90 minutes of puerile nonsense that was supposed to pass as -- What? Wind? I have no idea. Like most of these events, the level of debate was on a level with a Ralph Bakshi cartoon but not as entertaining.

Yes, Ralph Bakshi came to mind as I took mental notes on how to be cool like the award- winning journalist who tried to come across like Dan Brown, author of the DaVinci Code. I'm never going to be cool like him. I must seek counselling, consulting, or consoling or constellations or something. I think I'm hopeless. When I say "Imperialism," I laugh. This evening someone said: "It's an old fashioned word but..." I Am Not Cool. Not fashionable. Why do I even bother to live?

If you missed this important event, well, I ne'vah! Shame on you!

This is an indication of what you missed when you went to the hockey game:

"Whichever way you look at it, nothing changes the fact that between now and 2011, Canadians will be maimed and killed in Afghanistan because the Liberal Party of Canada does not think this is an opportune moment for a federal election and the Conservative Party of Canada insisted on this being a confidence motion. Canadians and Afghanis will die because of partisan politics in Canada. It is tragically shameful."

Now, am I the heartless prick who wrote recently that something or other is shamefully twagic? Hmm. I think maybe yes. Did I have occasion to pick on some pretend-concern about The people! from a Death Hippie? I think again maybe yes. I think I didn't have much sympathy for whoever it was who used the lives of people he doesn't know to make some cheap political statement about something that his pre-fab ideology finds for him offensive. I think maybe yes I get pissed right off when people in the West use peasants in far-off and unknown places as tragically shameful victims who aren't accorded status as or understood as real people. I think really maybe yes I get disgusted by poseurs who show off by talking about how upset they are about "suffering" and the evils of capitalism. I think they make me puke. I think if spoiled fat kids in the West want to promote "social justice" they should find some dark place and go fuck themselves.Cause, cause, cause? Cause there are real people suffering from real injustice that has not a thing to do with fat kids in the West emoting in public.

My vote for the evening's best line goes to Canada-Afghanistan Solidarity Committee co-founder Lauryn Oates who spoke on behalf of charity workers in Afghanistan, of which she is one and has been for 12 years, taking some genuine courage, and more. She condemned the "concerned" as having a morality of the "Do these jeans make my ass look fat?" type.

That was excellent. Even better was the kid who asked if I'm Terry Glavin. I confessed that I am indeed, and that my car had been towed and I needed $20.00 to get to the airport, and if he'd lend it to me he could go to the office tomorrow and the receptionist would pay him back -- and a bit extra for his trouble. GEE zuz. I thought if people are gullible enough to take in Derek's spiel I could get a quick twenty off the kid. Money is worth more than ideas, it seems clear now.

Yeah, actually, there is a real world. It affects real people. Even those in Afghanistan. It's a real nasty world that takes some real nasty bastards to keep it from going to the dogs in-all. And when the good guys walk away, who walks in? George Bush and the neo-cons are bad? Nope-pers; that'd be me, among others. Bush and the neo-cons are bending over back-asswards to be so nice to the Afghanis in power that this is what "imperialism" brings to the Afghan people:

KABUL (AFP) - An Afghan legislative committee has drafted a bill seeking to introduce Taliban-style Islamic morality codes banning women from wearing make-up in public and forbidding young boys from wearing female fashions.
The draft, a copy of which was obtained by AFP, needs approval by both chambers of the Islamist-dominated parliament and President Hamid Karzai signature to become a law.
"Women and girls are obliged to not wear make-up, wear suitable dresses and observe hijab (veil) while at work or classrooms," said one article of the draft.
It also aims to ban women dancers performing during concerts and other public events as well as on television.
"The mass media including television and cable networks must avoid broadcasting programmes against Islamic morals," it said without giving details.
In a similar move the parliament, which is dominated by former anti-Soviet Islamist warlords, called earlier this month for a ban on dancing and Indian soap dramas on private television networks.
Men and young boys must avoid wearing bracelets, necklaces, "feminist dresses," and hair-bands, the draft reads.
The proposals also demand an end to dog and bird-fighting, pigeon-flying, billiards and video games, all past times favoured by many Afghans.
It demands separate halls for men and women during wedding parties, while loud music is banned at such gatherings. Afghans hold big and costly get-togethers for weddings, usually in a public hall with music.
If the proposals are passed, violators could be fined 500 Afghanis (10 dollars) to 5,000, according to the draft.
The plans mirror many of the laws introduced by the extremist Taliban regime, which ruled the country from 1996 to 2001 with strict Islamic Sharia law.
From Dhimmi Watch: Agence France-Presse

What we have here is a failure to communicate. We have in a formerly hostile sharia state-- a currently hostile sharia state. Bush and the neo-cons and such are so afraid of upsetting the Muslim world that they allow and even pay for more sharia. Courageous and dedicated people like Lauryn Oates will spend 12 years in Afghanistan or even 120 years and not make a bit of good difference so long as there is no force to affect good change. All the well-intentioned school teachers on Earth can camp out in Afghanistan with freezing peasants while U.N bureaucrats whinge and dine in five star hotels in Kabul, and it will do not a speck of good. School teachers without guns to back up themselves and to save their students from the culture of violence and sharia might as well go to Bahamas' Club Med and have a good time.

So, at the end of this you find me, dear reader, siding with the Death Hippies, in this case. If we invaded a sharia state to reimpose a sharia state we should pack it in and let the real work of real revolutionaries reign. Copper mines in Afghanistan? Give me a break. They have lapis lazuli. That's worth some bucks, and some daring. But you can't mine it in a war zone. That war has to stop. And you can't mine it in a sharia state. That has to stop too.

So, what do you do? Sigh-igh. Death Hippies clappering at the library. All them, rattle and chain.

Flatlanders' Lost Horizon

Geert Wilders gets Muslim death threats, again; Dutch local government apologizes for outrage; and Dutch Catholic Television protests hate.

Except it's not exactly like that. Wilders and the Dutch people in general are now being targeted by Al Qaeda for terror. A local Dutch government is apologizing to residents for outraging them to the point the locals burned down a social engineering project. To make things clear to the world concerned about terrorism, the Catholic tv. station KRO is making a film about-- Violence in the Bible! Whatever the Dutch put in the pot must be some mighty strong stuff.

Credible reports claim that Wilders' film will be out in March. There's been a bit of scoffing, of wondering if he actually had a film in the works at all. Now it seems pretty likely we'll see it. Not that it makes any great deal of difference. Many people on many sides of this issue don't care at all about the film itself, only about making points within their communities, i.e. Muslims and Left dhimmi fascists.

The Film

Alexandra Hudson, "Dutch lawmaker says anti-Koran film almost finished." AMSTERDAM, Reuters); 27 Feb 2008.

A politician making an anti-Koran film that has stirred Muslim outrage, brought him death threats and alarmed the Dutch government said on Wednesday the movie would be finished this week.

So it's coming. As expected, the Muslims are in a snit. But if this seems bad, wait till the Dutch reactions show (further along here.)

The Death Threats

'Al Qaeda Fatwa against MP Wilders'

AMSTERDAM, 28/02/08 - The terrorist network Al-Qaeda has given orders for the assassination of MP Geert Wilders, newspaper De Telegraaf reports. The Party for Freedom (PVV) leader must be 'slaughtered', the orders say, because he has insulted Islam and the prophet Mohammed.

The newspaper based its report on a recent message on a protected web forum of internet site al-ekhlaas.net, which De Telegraaf claims is affiliated with Al-Qaeda. The internet threat, which was posted on 28 January, was intercepted by the American research institute SITE Intelligence Group, the newspaper reports.

"In the name of Allah, we ask you to bring us the neck of this unbeliever who insults Islam and the Muslims and ridicules the prophet Mohammed," the site says about Wilders, according to the newspaper.

The message honours Mohammed Bouyeri as a hero. This Amsterdam-born Moroccan Muslim cut Islam-critic Theo van Gogh's throat on 2 November 2004. The message also appeals for readers to "terrorise" the Netherlands to prevent Wilders' controversial film on the Koran from being broadcast.

Wilders says his film is finished, and only still needs to be edited. He will try to show the film via an official broadcaster. He expects the negotiations to last between several days and several weeks.

Wilders has set up a separate website where his Koran film will be shown in any event. The host of this site, www.fitnathemovie.com, is located in the United States. Wilders also plans to put the film on the YouTube website.

The film takes place within the Koran, Wilders earlier explained, with the book opening and showing the viewer images of atrocities allegedly inspired by the verses. It lasts about 15 minutes and ends with a picture of the prophet Mohammed, to which "something happens", he added.

In looking at this piece below I think that if I were the Pope I'd hang these losers from lamp posts. It's not a one-off weirdness (see "Tiny Munchkin" or "Lent is the Christian Ramadan,") from a batch of particularly devastating pot. This is the Dutch way of it.

The Dhimmi Hippies

Dutch TV Network Makes Movie Showing Violence in the Bible

The KRO Dutch television network is preparing a movie on the Bible as a reaction to the movie on the Quran and violence being produced by Geert Wilders, leader of the Freedom Party (PVV). The movie will link Biblical texts about violence and intolerance to recent events.

Geert Wilders is making a film about the Koran as hate literature. Fair enough. So that prompts Dutch Catholic Television to make a film about violence in the Bible. I see. I see through the pot smoke, darkly.

The Katholieke Radio Omroep (Catholic Radio Broadcast) is a Dutch public broadcaster that was founded on 23 April 1925 and commonly broadcasts on Nederland 1. It is a broadly catholic broadcaster with spiritual interests. KRO also manages the broadcasts of RKK. Its magazines are Studio KRO Magazine and Mikro gids.

What is the average non-pot-smoked-to-Shangri-La-oblivion Dutch resident to do? They created their own smoke-up! It's one thing to want to hang the umpire, and it's a whole nother thing to go out and burn down a building. One is ill-tempered; the other will get you a sympathetic hearing from the local politicians. Ya gotta wonder what these folks smokes.

The Dutch Reaction to Idiot Dhimmi Minders

Municipality Admits Mistakes in Drug Addicts' Hostel Affair

The Municipality of Den Bosch has admitted that it made mistakes by not sufficiently consulting with the residents of the neighborhood regarding a hostel for drug addicts which was due to open in the area. The mayor and the responsible alderman promised that, in the future, they will consult neighborhoods better and that their interests will be considered more seriously. The hostel was burned down last week, probably by arson.

What makes Western middle-class people successful is their understanding and practice of delayed gratification. Normal middle-class people don't suddenly decide to go on a lark and burn down a building. They have to be provoked and enraged for an age before they even raise their voices in public. Arson is a bit stronger. The flames of middle-class anger are now penetrating the pot-smoke of Death Hippie minders. Today in Canada, for example, the Anglican Church is riven to pieces because of 30 years of Death hippies, and tomorrow we might well see Anglicans burning churches if things continue as they do now. Death Hippies will cause death across the globe, moreso, more dead than they've already created. There is only so much shit people will put up with before even the most placid Dutchman, for example, goes mustang and burns the place to he ground. It's too normal. One would have to be crazy not to see it coming. And the Hippies don't seem to see it at all, focussed as they are on some lost horizon of utopian pot-dreaming. Death Hippies will turn Shangri-La into Europe's Sarajevo Summer.

When I think about it, I think hangin's too good for the Death Hippies. I think they should have to live without marijuana for a year. That would punish them rightly. They'd have to live with the mess they've made and wouldn't be able to walk past it without seeing it. Harsh indeedy.

Dutch NIMBYs Hot Under the Collar

The "World's Most Tolerant People" are seemingly fed-up with the gnostic crap pushed on them by their minders. Oh? The America- hating, sneering, despising of all things bourgeois, (with the exception of all things bourgeois in-hand) are sick of, for one thing, housing for drug addicts in their back yards, hence NIMBY: Not in My Back Yard. The discussion can get heated, even among the most smug and sanctimonious people in Europe. No, I shouldn't and I don't single out Dutch Left fascists for any special hostility. I despise them all, American Left dhimmi fascists as much as the Swedish version, any of them. Here though, I look at the Dutch, the microcosm of Europe's eventual Sarajevo Summer.

"Neighborhood Residents Rejoice after Drug Addicts' Hostel Burns Down"

A building in the neighborhood of Kruiskamp in Den Bosch has burned down. The Municipality had intended to use it as a hostel for drug addicts, against strong opposition from neighborhood residents. Arson is suspected. A number of local residents came out to celebrate the burning of the building. There have been a number of similar cases in the Netherlands where local violence or threats have blocked such decisions. In 2005, in the neighborhood of Schilderwijk in the Hague, local inhabitants threw stones and eggs on members of the Municipality and police because of a plan to establish a center for drug addicts in the neighborhood. In the same year inhabitants of the Rotterdam Katendrecht neighborhood threatened arson if a home for former prostitutes would be located there. In both cases the Municipality abandoned the projects. Let me try to make a broader point by relating a personal anecdote: A few years ago my buddy says to me, "Did you see that creepy Russian dude when you were hitting on his wife?" Truth to tell, as I was watching the woman in question taking off her clothes I was watching the creepy Russian dude as well. He was grinning like a maniac. I mentioned it to the wife. She said he needed money for cigarettes, and he figured she'd have it for him soon enough. I explained to her that she was wasting her time with me so long as she hung around with the Russian, but she didn't care, claiming good/bad at 60/40 with him and that I might be better but she couldn't count on me to hang around.

Now, some guys don't care if a couple of strangers move in and screw the wife so long as they get some cigarettes out of it or a bottle of whatever or whatever. And obviously, some women don't care either. But some guys don't go for it at all. When they encounter it they get pretty nasty. Some women seek out nasty guys in such scenarios. And then it all goes pear-shaped and ends in blood and pain. It's not unusual to encounter anti-social behavior among bottom-feeders. If one is aware of the environment and its denizens, then it might work out. If not, if one wades into dark water and one suddenly finds oneself at the deep end of a bad deal; and if one finds a couple of strangers hitting on his wife, then it's not leering and hand-rubbing time. Even in dhimmi Europe normalcy is not a really just a phone-call away, no Allo Police! A sickening and intimidating situation? Middle-class people might strain their cheek muscles for a while trying to smile at the behavior of bottom-feeders, but there comes a time when it's too much. Those who don't get it, those who don't care, those who will sell out their lives for a pack of cigarettes or a bottle of booze....

The Dutch arsonists are as normal as anyone I've ever met. It's the Dutch who sneer at all things American and leer while their wives get molested by bottom-feeders that disturbs me. Maybe the Dutch are finding this molestation to be less than amusing. Maybe they're going to be just like they've always been: unashamedly normal and violent and frenzied and murderous. Maybe the pot-smoker poses of "sophisticated" Bo- Bos is over. Maybe it'll become clear why I refer to the Left dhimmi fascists as Death Hippies. Maybe when the bodies pile up on the streets or bob in the canals it'll become clear that it's the Left fascists who are responsible for all this; that Death Hippies cause death because of Left dhimmi fascist behaviour in the first place. We'll see how many more fires, how many rampages by Dutch burghers, how many vigilante murders come about because of the World's Most Tolerant People finally getting sick of getting screwed and bing humiliated. Or maybe I'm totally wrong and the poor need more social programmes while the racists should be jailed for hate thoughts. We'll see. We'll see if what was "colorful" in a part of town over there is acceptable when it's in the backyards of the Dutch middle class. Maybe NIMBYs will turn up the heat when the bottom feeders are no longer somewhere else but turn out to be the neighbours offering cigarettes for a shot at the wife.
