Confronting Islam

The always worthwhile Moorthy Muthuswami writes clearly about the always worthwhile Bill Warner's thesis on the inherent violence of Islam. What to do?

I'll leave it up to you, dear reader. While you think it over, I'm going to think about the Peruvian anti-riot police.

Bill Warner of the Center for the Study of Political Islam has carried out a groundbreaking statistical analysis of Islamic doctrines. I summarize his studies by noting that about sixty-one percent of the contents of the Koran are found to speak ill of unbelievers or call for their violent conquest; at best only 2.6 percent of the verses of the Koran are noted to show goodwill toward humanity. Moreover, about seventy five percent of Muhammad’s biography (Sira) consists of jihad waged on unbelievers.

While there might be some subjectivity to the above analysis, the overwhelming thrust of the inferences should be noted. This overall thrust exposes the sheer absurdity of excusing the Koran-inspired terror on the so-called “selective interpretation” of the Muslim holy book or its “verses being taken out of context.”

The burden of scientific or statistical evidence suggests that Islam is an intolerant religion that drives its followers toward a violent conquest of unbelievers. If such is the thrust of the Islamic doctrines, their propagation would lead to increased violence directed at non-Muslims. Indeed, rise in Muslim extremism of the past decades is directly correlated with hundreds of billions of dollars spent by government-linked Saudi charities to “propagate” Islam worldwide.

Not surprisingly, even in the modern context, manifestations of Islamic supremacy and conquest are the norm, rather than the exception. Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden outlined a condition for terror attacks against America to cease: “I invite you to embrace Islam.” During the past sixty years most non-Muslim minorities—tens of millions—in all Muslim-majority regions of South Asia were terrorized into leaving for nearby non-Muslim-majority lands. All of this points to conquering land and people for Islam.

America’s policy approach to the Muslim world has been clouded by misrepresentations of Islam’s character. For instance, in one of the most important foreign policy initiatives of his presidency, in the now-famous Cairo speech, Obama observed that “[America and Islam] overlap, and share common principles—principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.”

We are left with the grim reality that at the fundamental level America’s policies toward the Muslim world are based on false premises—and hence, are untenable. This reality must be acknowledged widely before alternate policies can be devised.

Diapers Obama

Obama might think it's cool to emulate a mythical version of the wholly repulsive evil gnome, M. Gandhi. Those who have bothered to find out about, those who could find out about and then stomach the real Gandhi, those who have acted to find out the true life story of the filthy little bastard responsible for the murder of millions of Indians-- Hindu, Muslim, and others during the Partition-- have no good opinion of one of the most evil of the 20th century's evil geniuses. Only the ignorant and the evil can know abut the real Gandhi without being sickened. Obama is one or both to the above. He seems to think himself a Gandhi. In that assessment, I agree with him. Except that Obama is no genius, just a cheap, jumped-up street hustler. Gandhi, if this is to his credit or not, was at least an original evil genius; and Obama, following in Gandhi's shadow, seems destined to be responsible for at least as many pointless murders as his evil mentor in "peace." Obama has determined to refuse a first-strike retaliation against nations that do not use nuclear weapons against us so long as they are part of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty nations. On top of that, Obama will cut our nuclear arsenal, make a fool's agreement with Russia in regard to our weapons, and aside from dropping hints that he might retaliate against Israel for bombing a so-to-be nuclear armed Iran, refuses to allow visas to Israelis involved at Dimona. Obama's nuclear policy of unilateral disarmament? "Nukes are for pukes." He's a mini-Gandhi. That's not a good thing, dear reader. That's an evil thing.

As Truepeers pointed out this late evening, if America sheds its own defensive nuclear umbrella, what about our allies who have lived under its shelter all these years, assuming the U.S. would shield them from attack? If Obama won't protect us, what will he do for our allies? Not a fucking thing. Our allies now have to scramble to defend themselves. Obama can parade around in moral diapers if he wants to be seen as a Gandhian hippie peacenik, but our allies will go nuclear to defend themselves. Let's hope so, so that they might, if we're lucky, defend us too.

Sweden: Muslim community fears violence after attack on elderly couple

An elderly couple was attacked last Monday when trying to park their car in the Swedish town of Landskrona. [...] [A] young man (23) ... became so upset, he threw the car door on the 71 year old man, Sven, who fell down. The young man then started beating the 71 year old.

The older man's 78 year old wife, Inger, tried to intervene, but was punched in the face and fainted.

The younger man fled in his car. ... The 71 year was in shock and had injuries to his face and back. The 78 year old ... died of her injuries Wednesday.




[A]t least 20 people who say the suspect was the murderer.

The suspect is described by his former school friends as shy and quiet. "He was calm and composed and a good student," said one of them.

"We are deeply shocked and saddened and have difficulty understanding that this tragedy has really happened," said Othman Tawalbeh to the TT news agency outside Sofia Albertina church.

Ashraf Mahjoub from one of the muslim associations ... [is] unhappy that the 23 year old suspect held by police, who denies all involvement, had his identity and address put out on facebook.

"His family have been threatened. He is convicted in advance." he told TT.

In his speech he protested against the "we and them" attitude spreading in society.

"Violence has no ethnicity, it has no religion," he said in response to the online hate-campaign against the suspect, who is of immigrant background.

Four Islamic and Arab associations called for a press conference in order to calm the unrest in Landskrona after the fatal beating of Inger, 78. Though the associations call it an accident, while the police classifies it as a murder.

"We have a feeling that there's an agenda of a certain party which, unfortunately, wants to exploit this situation to their advantage."

The suspect's ... family shared their condolences with the family of the deceased Inger (78), but also said: "We are very worn out and do not feel good at all, our children have been badly affected and scared. The accident caused us enormous grief in our lives."

The family says they've received death threats after the suspect's identity was published online, and one of the brothers said he doesn't dare let his children go to school. The suspect's wife got a call from someone saying they'll kill her children.

The 36 year old brother said his wife and children have left Landskrona. They can't sleep but are terrified and do not feel good at all....

According to the suspect's lawyer, the suspect denies everything. His lawyer also said that the suspect was threatened by phone and by internet, that those threats have racist characteristics and that he's taken it up the issue of his protection with the police.

Ferki Hamad, an imam in Landskrona, has known the family for several years.

"Their situation is very complicated. They've got phone calls all night yesterday and the day before. Those who call say 'we will kill your children'" he says.

He thinks the police should take the threats seriously and compares the situation with a case where a rape suspect boy and his family recieved police protection after they were threatened.

"In Landskorna it's about somebody [ the 78 year old woman] who died. This is bigger. I think that the police need to take greater responsibility for the family."

Ferki Hamad was very surprised when he heard of the suspicions against the 23 year old, whom he describes as quiet and well-behaved.

Police detective Tommy Lindén says that the family is safe in Landskorna and that from his experience, they're playing the victim card in order to give them a better negotiating position. The police have mobilized in Landskrona to meet the increased risk of violence. For those who still feel insecure, but do not have the financial means to leave town, the municipality is ready to help.

Nick Bergamini: The Cost of Supporting Israel

Tonight I went out to the bars downtown. It was a great night with my roommate Mark Klibanov. Around 1:45am, as we were leaving the bar, and we heard the shout of “Zionist” in Arabic. As it stands now, we weren’t sure if the shouts were directed at myself, a known a supporer of Israel, or Mark, an actual Israeli.

Quickly, we both responded that yes we were Zionists. All of a sudden we were surrounded by 10-15 men who began to shout at us in Arabic. We tried to back out and run away. All of a sudden, I was struck in the back of the head. I’m not sure if it was a fist, a rock or a pipe but it left me dazed and bleeding.

We quickly ran back to the bar and stood beside the bouncers. The crowd of anti-Israel thugs dispersed.

About 10 minutes later, assuming that it was safe, we began to walk home. We were walking through a parking lot when a car pulled up next to us. The driver shouted “I fucking hit you, you Jew.”

We stood our ground. Quickly we had three guys around us. We were able to push them away. As the cowards that they were, they retreated. Then I heard, shouts of “Open the trunk!” One of them opened the trunk and I saw glistening in the street light the reflection of a 12-inch machete. “Fucking Jew,” he shouted. I began to run for my life as he was only 5 or 6 feet away.

I ran, and as I looked back, I saw the long shiny blade slicing through the air about 12 inches from my neck. I ran as fast I could and, thanks to my grade 9 track and field training, got away.

People who were around the scene said the blade came within inches of my neck.

Now, the debate on campuses has reached the next level. In this country, people are no longer safe if they support Israel. But you know what? I will never take back my beliefs. I support Israel 100 per cent.

But I will say this. Some of the guys who tried to kill us are Carleton students and I recognize who they are. What is this country coming to?

What is this country coming to? What, or who, is coming to this country?

The police might, might not, or might casually look int this matter and determine that things are not as bad as they seem, given the nature of this "ethnic" conflict. Meanwhile, the rest of us, if we bother at all, not being satisfied with the "ethnic" origins of this problem, have friends and family walking around as targets of Muslim hatred. Some of us take it personally. Some of us expect the police to take it seriously as well. Where do we draw the line between not making waves and waving down a police car to report that our families and friends have been butchered on the streets?

Al-Qaeda urges UK jihadists to build missiles and attack passenger jets

Using Russian-made rockets -- yes, the same Russia that just suffered another severe jihad attack. "Al-Qaeda urges UK fanatics to build DIY cruise missiles," from ANI, April 4 (thanks to Maxwell):

London, Apr 4(ANI): Fears of a terror attack during the UK General Election have been further fueled by reports that the Al-Qaeda has urged British fanatics to build DIY cruise missiles to attack passenger jets.

According to reports, an Al-Qaeda website explains how to build missiles with solid fuel engines using operating manuals for the Russian 107mm Katyusha rocket. Numerous links are also available for guides to make explosives, including C4 plastic explosive, acetone peroxide and TNT.

The same site was used to explain how to bring down a jet before former London student Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab tried to blow up a passenger jet over Detroit on last year's Christmas Day.

Another recent posting shows a sophisticated computer-designed plan for a two-stage missile that would drop an explosive device on to a target by parachute.

"Isn't it ironic that the two capitals of the war against Islam, Washington DC and London, have also become among the centres of Western Jihad?" The Daily Express quoted Anwar al-Awlaki, a radical on the run in the Yemen, as saying on the website....

I think I should consider myself lucky, given that my name is sort of not weird or flaky, and that the names my parents sometimes called me were not meant to be official or lasting. So, this Easter I'm going to be thankful for the little things in life, and I'll save a moment to reflect on how much worse it is for those less fortunate than I.

If we can think of Muslims, so-called, and think of them as merely others who have some distant religious connection to those of us Judeo-Christian and post-such, then we might think of them as just people like us with a named religion that really doesn't separate us much. In a fit of generosity on a holiday, we might think us all the same.

But it ain't so no matter how we would wish it so. Those who are Muslims have their ways, far different from ours, that suit them and they love. The rest of us, regardless, are pretty lucky in all.

There's no good substitute for the real thing when it comes to painting by El Greco. No print comes close to the living power of the actual. However, not everyone is disappointed in each and every vicar, and so because though no vicar is the real thing, at least some might be good indications of what one would know if the chance arose. Uh, we make do with what we can get.
