"If need be, I will personally distribute DVDs in the Dam,"

"If need be, I will personally distribute DVDs in the Dam," ANP quoted [Wilders] as saying. The Dam is the central square in Amsterdam, popular with both the Dutch and tourists.

A U.S.-based web service, which Islam critic and Dutch right-wing lawmaker Geert Wilders planned to use to show his film critical of the Koran, said on Saturday that it had inactivated the site due to complaints.

"This site has been suspended while Network Solutions is investigating whether the site's content is in violation of the Network Solutions Acceptable Use Policy," the company said on the site www.fitnathemovie.com.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands, March 22 (UPI) -- Muslims in the Netherlands demonstrated Saturday against a film on the Koran made by a right-wing member of parliament.

The protest in Amsterdam occurred the day after the Netherlands Islamic Federation asked a court to determine if Geert Wilders could be blocked from showing the film, Deutsche Welle reported. The court is scheduled to rule next Friday on whether to set up a board of censors to review the film.

Non-Muslim groups participated in the protest, arguing that Wilders, head of the Party for Freedom, is a racist.

They haven't seen the film, and if they had it wouldn't make any difference because the Netherlands is not a totalitarian nation so far. Wilders has a legitimate right to show a political film there and on the Internet, so far. And again: What race is Islam?

The Dutch take great pride in their democratic freedoms. "Stop him, just stop him."

"The [Netherlands] government could really do something. That's in the interest of the country — stop him, just stop him," said Hassan Iaeti.

"Wilders, who said he is not racist, heads a reactionary party with nine seats in the 150-member Dutch parliament, elected on an anti-immigration platform," said AP news service.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23757212

SOME here [in the Netherlands] see Mr. Wilders's film — titled "Fitna," Arabic for civil strife — as a potential hate crime and have already filed police complaints in various Dutch cities, concerned that his past statements and the film will polarize religious groups and foster discrimination.

His supporters say he protects traditional Dutch values. His critics, and there are many, say he is an out-of-control, right-wing extremist risking his country's good name for his own political gain. Others are even harsher; one former trade union leader called Mr. Wilders "evil."

[....]

Maxime Verhagen, the Dutch foreign minister, told a public television reporter that he found it "irresponsible to broadcast this film."

"That's because Dutch companies, Dutch soldiers and Dutch residents could and will be in danger," Mr. Verhagen said.

Such statements spur Mr. Wilders on, and in his opinion unintentionally prove that Islam is a rigid, intolerant religion whose followers try to muffle criticism, often violently. Framing himself as a defender of free speech, Mr. Wilders said there would not be such a fuss about his film if it were about the Bible.

"We can never allow people who use nondemocratic means, people who use violence instead of arguments, people who use knives instead of debates, we can never allow them to set the agenda," he said.

[....]

MR. WILDERS says he detests Islam but not Muslims. "I believe the Islamic ideology is a retarded, dangerous one, but I make a distinction," he said. "I don't hate people. I don't hate Muslims.

He added: "I am not saying all Muslims are wrong or are terrorists or criminals. You will never hear me say that."

"If you say the prophet is a war criminal, you say, I hate Muslims," a Dutch newspaper columnist, Youssef Azghari, said in an interview. "Because the prophet is a symbol. He was the one who invented the Islam."

The Dutch take great pride in their democratic freedoms, which they believe mean that disputes should be settled with arguments and not with repression and outright conflict.... Charges: However, it is important to emphasise that even in the Netherlands, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute. Its boundaries are set by a ban on discriminating against others on the basis of race or faith and on incitement to violence. But it is up to the courts and not to the government to determine whether a film breaks the law. And such a ruling can only be made once the film has been shown. Dozens of charges have already been brought against Geert Wilders for discrimination and incitement to hatred and these are currently being considered by the courts. Depending on its content, Geert Wilders' film could also easily find itself the subject of legal scrutiny....

Now think about that for half a second. How is a site that said only "Geert Wilders presents Fitna, 23 March 2008" in conceivable violation of any acceptable use policy?

Because of what it might say tomorrow, of course. Because of what people are afraid it will say. It's pre-emptive censorship.

Filibuster the jihad.

One if by plane....

So through the night rode Paul Revere; And so through the night went his cry of alarm To every Middlesex village and farm, A cry of defiance, and not of fear, A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door, And a word that shall echo for evermore! For, borne on the night-wind of the Past, Through all our history, to the last, In the hour of darkness and peril and need, The people will waken and listen to hear, The hurrying hoof-beats of that steed, And the midnight message of Paul Revere.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, 1860

Should that imagined day arrive that I settle on the farm I'll unpack my bags and gaze across the land, looking over the years I've waited, looking at the stones I'll hold in my hand, little colored pebbles from the River Mystic beside which rode Paul Revere in the night. Home, home at last to live out the days in the shade and the warm, the soft breeze and the sway of the crop. Far, far, far from the Mystic, settled on the ground, home, living alone in the hills far away. The waters that flowed over the stones far away and long gone. Should that imaginary day arise.
The farm, the garden, the forest, the lake nearby, should the day come bright, then we'll see the smoke blowing away and the light appearing strong and the clear sky blue. The glint of dawn on the leaded panes, the veranda wrapped around, the rocker still, the glasses resting under cloth for the evening's chat to come, lemons chilled in the cellar, wood-tinged water laying calm in the cistern.

This portentous dusk deceives me. Phantom figures glide in the gloom and make subtle whispering hisses, hushed accusations; and those around look on in placid bemusement at my alarm. What's this sack of stones, this tiny pile of pebbles? These little river-rubbed rocks are for a fish tank lit by the glow of the stove; there they are in hand as if Mystic memories mean. Paul Revere rode in the night along the Mystic River to warn his fellows, and here I sit awaiting the call. I peer into darkness, strain my ears for the warning, weighing the stones from the Mystic and that far away day, as far away as the farm.

Dutch Flood Approaching Coastal Areas

There is no such thing as Left and Right in politics. The whole concept is a sham. What difference between dhimmis on the so-called Left like Tiny Munchkins and dhimmis on the so-called Right like Le Pen? Today in the Houses of the World as divided in Islam there is only the meaningful distinction between jihadis and those who filibuster. Jihadis kill for Islam, and those who filibuster must engage them and fight back if the West is to prevail and if Humanity is to gain further from our Revolutions of Modernity, of peace, individual freedom, and freedom from want and disease. If we want to maintain and further our democracies, we must struggle. The Dutch, if not struggling, are at least becoming further fed-up daily with dhimmitude, and politicians are listening at last.

Left-wing MPs reject anti-racism demo invite

Thursday 20 March 2008

Left-wing MPs have rejected an invitation by an anti-racism organisation to join a demonstration in Amsterdam on Saturday, saying they fear it could turn into an anti-Geert Wilders event.

They have also refused to accept a petition opposing Wilders' PVV party, saying their role is to combat his opinions in parliament, the Volkskrant reports on its website.

'The organisation Nederland Bekent Kleur' (the Netherlands recognises colour) is against polarisation but is polarising itself,' Labour MP Khadija Arib (photo) said in the Telegraaf.

The organisation told NOS news it was the first time all MPs had turned down an invitation to take part.

Even Leftist politicians in a democracy like the Netherlands are now finding it impossible to go along with the fringe who have lead round the nation by the nose so long. A democracy of sorts, the Dutch political classes still have to get re-elected, and they are seeing the discontent of the masses regarding the nature of Islam in Europe, a discontent they can no longer ignore with impunity. Sane people who rely on empirical proofs rather than ideological bias to inform and to form their actions have had it with out-of-control Muslims. Now even politicians are heeding the will of those who vote en masse. Geert Wilders is looking like a winner.

The other Dutch Fitna film

A Moroccan youth group from Delft in the Netherlands, calling themselves "Scheme 015 Delftse Samenzwering Shit," [samenzwering means conspiracy] has posted a video clip threatening to kill voters and sympathizers of Dutch politician Geert Wilders.

More dishonesty flung at Geert Wilders

There's no end to the nonsense we get from those who hasten to condemn Geert Wilders and his 15 minute film, Fitna. In the piece below some Muslim whinges about Wilders being a racist. Iranians do insist that Islam is a race in itself: that if one is born a Muslim, then one must forever be a Muslim or one must be killed. Those of us in the civilized world do not assign religion to people on the basis of race or ethnicity or family. For us it's a matter of free personal choice. That seems to upset Muslims and Leftists as well. Thus we read such things as this article below in which there is planned a demonstration against Wilders' supposed "racism" for his condemnation of Islam as a fascist poligion. The Left and the Muslim umma generally can't think of one good reason not to dismiss Islam as a fascism, so they stoop to idiotic name-calling. Islam is not a race. The Left and Muslims often pretend they don't get it. The rest of us do, and it makes the others look increasingly dishonest and ugly.

Anti-racism demo to target Wilders

De Volkskrant writes that an anti-racism organisation is planning a large demonstration on the Dam in Amsterdam on Saturday whose principal target will be Geert Wilders. The group hopes the rally "Will symbolise a turning point in the Dutch political climate that is now characterised by fear and hatred." De Volkskrant says it will be the first major anti-racism rally since the mid-1990s. Mohamed Rabbae, secretary of a Moroccan organisation, says that the rally will be linked with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. "But we're not playing hide and seek. Wilders is the spokesman of racism. And racism is the concrete rot of society."

[Mr Wilders refused to say when his anti-Qur'an film Fitna will be released, only that it "will appear on the internet before the 1st of April".]

http://www.expatica.com/nl/articles/news/RNW-PRESS-REVIEW-_-19-MARCH-2008.html
Civilized people understand there is nothing innate in being a Muslim. One needn't be or if one is one needn't remain being a Muslim simply due to being a Moroccan, for example. The "racist" canard is a canard. It is bullshit.

We are all Rock Hudson.

Deiter Bonnehoffer, the totally famous anecdotalist, said:

First they came for me, but I fought them and they ran away.
Then they came for the gay guy next door, so I had to go help him because if they're going after people it isn't right.
Then they tried going after women; and that was the end of it because we beat the shit out of them and they ran away and haven't been seen since.

It's very simple, though any number of people cannot figure it out even when one explains it to them: one cannot be a universalist and a relativist. Either all cultures are equally valid for those who belong to them and within their own context and ya ya, or there is a universal standard of morality and Human rights. It can't be both at the same time.

I'm pretty well qualified to write on gay films, being a big fan of Rock Hudson / Doris Day movies. But I defer. The following piece is about yet another gay porn star, not Rock Hudson, neither is it about Doris Day. It's really about you, dear reader. What kind of society do you want to live in? There's really no room in a sharia state for Rock and Doris.

I've written about this before, but it's important to cover and I bring a bit more to the story as it unfolded, this being foreground, and this being aftermath.

Not your typical gay pornographer

Meet Michael Lucas: smut merchant, neo-con pundit, outspoken Zionist and scourge of America's gay intelligentsia

This was not what Patrick Cordova had bargained for. The Stanford junior, a member of the school's student government, had wanted to host a lecture on sexual health. And he figured that a provocative and fun way to tackle the issue would be to bring a prominent pornographer to speak on campus. So Cordova sent out some invitations. The first person he heard back from was Michael Lucas -- longtime porn actor and director of such films as Hunt & Plunge, The Bigger The Better, and Fire Island Cruising (editions one through eight). A fixture in New York nightlife and head of his own production company, Lucas is one of the biggest names in gay porn. His 2006 epic La Dolce Vita had a $250,000 budget, which Lucas says makes it the most expensive porn film in history. The movie garnered best-picture honors at the annual GAYVN Awards, the Oscars of gay porn. (It also garnered a lawsuit from the company that controls the rights to the original Fellini film.) New York magazine has dubbed him the "last of the New York porn moguls."

Lucas -- a staunch advocate of safe sex who, unlike some porn directors, uses condoms in his movies -- sounded like exactly the kind of guest speaker Cordova had in mind. "We were hoping that people would embrace his ideas on sexual identity and sexual health," Cordova told me. But, after Stanford had already booked him, controversy erupted. Some students felt that Lucas shouldn't have been invited to lecture. By the day of his speech, the storm surrounding Lucas had made its way into the pages of The Stanford Daily, where organizers found themselves defending the invitation against the protests of their outraged peers.

What had provoked such heated debate? It wasn't Lucas's porn. It was his politics. Lucas, it turns out, is a fervent supporter of Israel and a harsh, often offensive, critic of the Muslim world. He has called the Koran "today's Mein Kampf" and regularly inveighs against Muslim homophobia and anti-Semitism in less-than-charming terms. "It totally escapes me how gay people can side with burkawearing, jihad-screaming, Koran-crazed Muslims," he opined last year.

At the talk itself, which took place this past Valentine's Day and drew an audience of about 50, Lucas stuck to his guns. "What's the point to respect their culture, or supposed culture, when they have a strong contempt for mine?" Lucas asked. And he wasn't content to leave it at that. The day after he spoke, he published an op-ed in The Stanford Daily responding to the charge that he is racist. "I never in my life said or wrote a bad word about Arabs -- go read any of my articles," he explained. "My criticism was always addressed towards the religion and ideology of Islam. So I would like to ask Stanford students not to exploit the word 'racism' at their own convenience."

The Stanford controversy wasn't an isolated incident. Over the past few years, Lucas has developed a side career in political commentary to go along with his more lucrative day job. He frequently updates his blog with thoughts on world affairs, writes a regular op-ed column for The New York Blade (a gay newspaper), and has feuded with the popular, liberal gay blog Queerty. "I would be better financially if I didn't open my mouth," he tells me. And, yet, Lucas can't seem to help himself.

[....]

You wouldn't know it from watching his movies -- which are apolitical -- but Lucas has opinions on everything. He is a fan of conservative columnist David Brooks and the late right-wing icon Oriana Fallaci (though he acknowledges her homophobia), thought the Iraq war was a bad idea ("the wrong target"), considers the press soft in portraying Islamist terrorism ("it's very upsetting that they don't allow people to see the beheadings"), loves Nicolas Sarkozy ("I think Marc Jacobs told me that Sarkozy went to synagogue") and hates Jimmy Carter ("this f--king peanut farmer"). While he originally disagreed with Russia's brutal policies toward Chechnya, he now believes that America could learn something from Vladimir Putin. "The American army can't take Fallujah?" Lucas asks me, incredulous. "Level it!"

[T]he true objects of his ire are gay liberals whom he sees as overly sympathetic to the Arab side in the Arab-Israeli conflict.

[....]

That's a gross understatement. Last year, in his Blade column, Lucas hailed gay artist Charles Merrill's decision to burn a rare copy of the Koran, estimated to be worth $60,000, and, in a subsequent radio interview, called the Koran an "absolutely evil book."

The false dichotomy of Left and Right is becoming increasingly idiotic in our time, and to witness the contortions people go through to pretend it's a meaningful distinction is too painful for me. The event went as well as one might have expected at Stanford. Below are some comments from the Stanford Daily referred to above.

A comment from the Stanford Daily from the high-flying:

Wilburite on 2/14/08 at 3am

Man, this is a juicy one.

Guess what, the gay porn star is right! In some Islamic countries, areas under Sharia Law require the death penalty for homosexual men and women. It is beyond obvious that, in the name of Islam, homosexuals worldwide are treated like crap. See the following: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexuality_laws_of_the_world
www.ncr-iran.org/content/view/222/69/

What great irony that some clueless members of a GAY campus group are giving in to pressure from those who don't like the Michael Lucas comments. Very foolish. Is this where the left-wing, P.C. push on campus has led us?

This Michael Lucas actually sounds like a real ballsy guy....

One of m. de Sade' favorites, I assume:

Justine on 2/14/08 at 11am

It seems like Q and A and the Muslims on campus prefer to believe what they want to believe, instead of believing what is obviously fact. Sharia law and Muslim countries make homosexuality a serious offense. Iran execute people for it, and its President denies that gays exist in his country. Muslims can't seem to take any critique of their religion or their theocracies.

A man named (very suspiciously):

Dave on 2/14/08 at 1pm

I am actually impressed at the generally intelligent commentary here. Way to go, Stanford. Mr. Lucas is in my opinion a very exciting commentator on the subjects of Jewishness and Gayness as it intersects with Fanatical Islam. He calls it as he sees it with passion and authority that a few "activists" couldn't possible bring to the table. The hypocrisy of some on the left as it applies to the subject of tolerance in Israel versus intolerance in much of Muslim culture is something I have had to confront in my own (liberal) family. I find it scary because it is a historical fact that the Fascists in Germany similarly had the support of many otherwise cultured and "liberal" people. The strange intersection of racism, totalitarianism and left-ism is a fundamental aspect of much Fascism, in my opinion.

A page from the life of:

Brian on 2/14/08 at 1pm

I agree. It is funny to see what leftists do when the people they defend without thought (such as radical Muslims) want to eliminate them or other groups they support (Gays). You can be sure that if a Caliphate were established in Europe or US, as many Muslim leaders desire, there would be no gay pride parades, gay marriages, or gays period.

http://daily.stanford.edu/comments/2008/2/14/adultFilmStarsRemarksSparkDebate

The French Revolution ended a while back, and since then the distinction between Left and Right has pretty much meant not a thing at all. Nevertheless, fashion dictates one use the terms as if they do mean something. Me and my paisley shirts, my bell-bottom pants, my love-beads and peace sign, I don't get that part. Fashion is for others. Geert Wilders is soon to release his short film, Fitna, and he is risking death not only at the hands of fascist Islam but is at risk from fascists on the Left, as it were, not different from fascists on the Right, so to say. First they came for the gay porn stars, then they came for the Dutch filmmakers and politicians. No, that's backward, isn't it? First they killed Pim Fortuyn and then they killed Theo van Gogh. They'll come for you someday, and who'll care? Maybe me if I'm still around, but will you care?

It's not a matter of Left or Right. It's a matter of fascist or democrat. It's a matter of being Rock Hudsons and Doris Days and the conflicts that brings to ones personal life in the physical world, or it means one is tormented by dhimmitude and death by murder.

See you at the movies. While we can still see them.

Muscat Love: O Man, no Dutch treats?

It's not hardly a laughing matter that the Omanis are going to boycott the Netherlands and Denmark's fine products at al Jadeeda Stores, leaving the populations of all three nations facing either bankruptcy or starvation, maybe both, I don't know. And ain't this a shame? It is, friend. Look at all the money the Sheik of Oman has, just like Karen Carpenter; and like her, he too will likely just waste away to nothing but skin and bone because there's nothing to eat. I'm just sick over it. I was in favor until recently of Geert Wilders and the Danish cartoonists, but this kind of Human tragedy is too much even for me to bear. God help us all.

Al Jadeeda Stores to boycott items from Denmark, Netherlands

By Saif bin Sulaiman Al Mezaini
Sunday, March 16, 2008 12:26:05 AM Oman Time

MUSCAT — Al Jadeeda Stores and all its branches in the Sultanate's governorates and regions will boycott all products from Denmark and the Netherlands, effective from today.

The boycott comes in retaliation for the recent publication of caricatures insulting Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in Danish papers.

Mukhtar bin Abulridha bin Mukhtar Al Lawati, director-general of public relations, said all suppliers dealing with Al Jadeeda Stores were notified with the decision last week. The notification stipulated non-supply of products from Denmark and the Netherlands to all branches of Al Jadeeda Stores.

"We have no intention to suspend the decision at least in the near future," he said, adding that the decision would continue as long as the insulting caricatures continue to be published. "We have agreed to import commodities with high-quality specifications from other countries," he said. Al Jadeeda Stores has a network of six branches in Ruwi, Al Khuwair, Seeb, Widam, Saham and Sohar.

[Photo above: Typical Omani during boycott and before boycott.]

In light of the Omani boycott the last eurythmic survivor, Captain Toni Tennille said the Omanis might survive by "nibblin' on bacon, chewin' on cheese. Sami says to Siddiquie: Habbibi, would you please be my Mrs.? Siddiquie says, yes, with his kisses. Now, he's ticklin' his fancy, rubbin' his toes; Muzzlem to Muzzlem, now anything goes as they wriggle. Siddiquie starts to giggle. And they whirled and they twirled and they tango; singin' and jinglin' a jangle; floatin' like Paradise above. Looks like Muscat love."

I just hope the Omanis can live on oil. I hear it's not bad with camel hair. Maybe a dash of sand and some sea-water....

The Truth Behind Global Warming Exposed

Global warming suddenly makes sense. And to think that all this time I thought it was just hot air.

A case of arson occurs four times every day in Denmark, according to figures from the National Police. From the fourth quarter of 2006 to that of 2007, arson cases rose 13 percent, from 1207 fires to 1370.

Considering that the most recent spate of fires set in connection with riots in February were not included in the figures, this year could be an even worse one for police and firefighters. (RC)
