The petition itself, mostly:
Two weeks ago a group of Dutchmen started a petition called "Holland Loves Muslims". It aimed to reach 50,000 supporters but so far has only received 2,000. At the same time it has received between 1,500 and 2,000 hate e-mails.
The Holland Loves Muslims Petition
We proud citizens of the Netherlands wish to make a statement about Muslims and The Netherlands: a statement that has become a taboo since 9/11, a statement that has been neglected systematically by Dutch media and Dutch politicians.
We want to bring this message to the World of Islam where since Hirsi Ali and "The submission videos" people believe that Holland is in the hands of Muslim-bashers. We want to say this to our fellow Dutch citizens, non-Muslims, and Muslims. So that they remember the face of their ordinary Muslim, non-Muslim colleagues, friends, students, business partners, before they start talk about "Islam".
We want to make it clear that Wilders and other Mulsim-bashers are not running this country. We want to let our fellow Muslim citizens know that this country is their homeland, that they in their daily lives enjoy the openness and the chances of a democratic society like all citizens of The Netherlands do. We think that this is a fact. That, in fact this is valid for the experience of many and most of the Muslims in The Netherlands.
We say it loud and proud, let the whole world hear and know. Against all odds and prejudice and propaganda of Wilders and like-minded hyped up media feeders: ....
Because of hate mail, we are only adding new signatures once a day. If you catch something we missed, let us know.OK, now I know that many of us have caught things we would like to give to these folks, but really, let's try to be civil. However, if you or your loved ones wish to send mail, regardless of what kind, please got to the link below:
That was the petition. For the full story go to the link in Dutch here:
It's all bachwards there writtenen.
I have no particular feelings toward Muslims. There are too many to know on a personal basis, so to suggest I love them is kind of stupid and demeaning to Muslims, who happen to be individuals with real personalities, just like Dutch folk, come to think of it. But the point here isn't about Muslims at all. It's about the Dutch dhimmis showing the world at alrge that they too can be Moral and Really Selfless and Cool. I love them all as a group, or a blob, or whatever they are. Yes, dammit, I do.
