Philobarbarism: Fifi and the Wild Boys

I was walking one night down a street in a ruined city in one of those small Third World countries I so often find myself in-- for me a way of life and an employment opportunity but for others only destruction, despair, and death. The moon was up and full, back-lighting the sour smoke in the evening air, dragging a cosmetic haze across the city-scape. It is pretty, this pastel coloring of war cast limply over a city. I looked across to my right, to a bomb crater filled with smouldering garbage and damp, fetid rubble: there a pack of dogs rooted for food, red-eyed dogs bony, flea-bitten and mangy. They were a pack, those hungry beasts, a dangerous thing when one is alone in the night. Something caught their attention, and happily, it wasn't me. The dog-pack dashed as one across the trash and up the crater slope. I laughed!

Trotting behind the pack was a sparkling white poodle in a rhinestone collar. Fifi, determined, she was having some real trouble keeping up with her new-found friends, though she was trying very, very hard. Ooh la la: Fifi runs with the wild boys now. The pack, alert and hungry, they probably found something for dinner. I think.

Oh, Fifi. But still, I had to laugh.

Islam is Evil. That isn't news.

The Washington Post is doing whatever it can to paint over its putrefying fascade of dhimmitude. Below we will see how they try to blame the media other than themselves for racism and islamophobia while suggesting that those who don't followthe dhimmi party line as set down by the Washingtomn Post are somehow evil and stupid.

Honestly, I do want to choke some of these people. I know that's illegal. I know that it's immoral. I know it's ultimately a bad thing to choke them till they grab my wrists and try to pull my hands away, trying to get my thumbs off their throats, till their eyes bulge and they thrash and jerk and twitch. Uh, yeah, bad.

Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing
Poll Numbers in U.S. Higher Than in 2001

By Claudia Deane and Darryl Fears
Washington Post Staff Writers
Thursday, March 9, 2006; Page A01

As the war in Iraq grinds into its fourth year, a growing proportion of Americans are expressing unfavorable views of Islam, and a majority now say that Muslims are disproportionately prone to violence, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

The poll found that nearly half of Americans -- 46 percent -- have a negative view of Islam, seven percentage points higher than in the tense months after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, when Muslims were often targeted for violence.

The survey comes at a time of increasing tension; the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq show little sign of ending, and members of Congress are seeking to block the Bush administration's attempt to hire an Arab company to manage operations at six of the nation's ports. Also, Americans are reading news of deadly protests by Muslims over Danish cartoons depicting the prophet Muhammad.

Conservative and liberal experts said Americans' attitudes about Islam are fueled in part by political statements and media reports that focus almost solely on the actions of Muslim extremists.

According to the poll, the proportion of Americans who believe that Islam helps to stoke violence against non-Muslims has more than doubled since the attacks, from 14 percent in January 2002 to 33 percent today.

The survey also found that one in three Americans have heard prejudiced comments about Muslims lately. In a separate question, slightly more (43 percent) reported having heard negative remarks about Arabs. One in four Americans admitted to harboring prejudice toward Muslims, the same proportion that expressed some personal bias against Arabs.

Though the two groups are often linked in popular discourse, most of the world's Muslims are not of Arab descent. For example, the country with the largest Muslim population is Indonesia.

As a school bus driver in Chicago, Gary McCord, 65, dealt with many children of Arab descent. "Some of the best families I've ever had were some of my Muslim families," he said in a follow-up interview. "They were so nice to me." He now works for a Palestinian Christian family, whose members he says are "really marvelous."

But his good feelings do not extend to Islam. "I don't mean to sound harsh or anything, but I don't like what the Muslim people believe in, according to the Koran. Because I think they preach hate," he said.

As for the controversial cartoons of Muhammad, he said Arabs seem hypersensitive about religion. "I think it's been blown out of proportion," he said.

Frederick Cole, a welder in Roosevelt, Utah, acknowledged: "As far as being prejudiced against them, I'd have to say maybe a little bit. If I were to go through an airport and I saw one out of the corner of my eye, I'd say, 'I wonder what he's thinking.' " Still, Cole, 30, said, "I don't think the religion is based on just wanting to terrorize people."

A total of 1,000 randomly selected Americans were interviewed March 2-5 for this Post-ABC News poll. The margin of sampling error for the overall results is plus or minus three percentage points.

White Man's Burden.

Is Kipling onto something that we should know again?

Take up the White Man's burden--
The savage wars of peace--
Fill full the mouth of Famine
And bid the sickness cease;
And when your goal is nearest
The end for others sought,
Watch sloth and heathen Folly
Bring all your hopes to nought.

The Free West's Weblog Why we should not interfere in Darfur

Darfur is a mess.

I quote from the website SaveDarfur:

'According to reports by the World Food Program, the United Nations and the Coalition for International Justice, 3.5 million people are now hungry, 2.5 million have been displaced due to violence, and 400,000 people have died in Darfur thus far. The international community is failing to protect civilians or to influence the Sudanese government to do so.

The international community is deeply divided -- perhaps paralyzed -- over what to do next in Darfur. The UN Commission of Inquiry on Darfur described the massive scope of atrocities carried out in the territory, primarily by the government and its allied Janjaweed militias. And the situation on the ground shows a number of negative trends, which have been developing since the last quarter of 2004: deteriorating security; a credible threat of famine; mounting civilian casualties; the ceasefire in shambles; increasing tensions between Sudan and Chad; and new armed movements appearing in Darfur and neighboring states. Chaos and a culture of impunity are taking root in the region.'

Sudan is a member of the UN Human Rights Commission and of all the international Muslim Organizations, an independent nation-state the rights of which we need to respect.

Khartoum does not want UN soldiers in its country. Who are we to impose upon them our military?

Why would the West want to interfere in Darfur? Muslims kill Muslims, Muslims are starving, are ill, die by the thousands, and who should be concerned about this? Infidel whites?

Sudan is not a threat to the West. We can do some business in Khartoum – I have been there once in the early eighties – and support the moderate Sudanese, but Darfur is a matter of the Africans and the Arabs. We can't solve all the problems in the world, don't we?

The Muslims and Africans seem to go their own way without losing any sleep over the plight of the Darfur blacks. I have not seen any mass protest in the Arab-Islamic world over the treatment of the Sudanese blacks. Yes, I have seen mass protests over the cartoons.

Today, the world's media are in uproar because Israel grabbed some terrorists and forced them to undress so they could be catched in underpants - this seems to have insulted the Arabs. But the Arabs don't seem to be insulted by what Muslims are doing to Muslims in Darfur.

400.000 deaths in Sudan is a footnote in the awareness of the media and the Arabs. No Jews involved over there. Not even Bush.

So: if the Africans don't care, if the Muslims don't care, why would we - Christians, Jews, Unbelievers -care?

Why don't we stick to our own concerns and why should we send our soldiers, our money and our supplies to another continent which should be of concern of people closer to the region?

Why can't we leave those blacks alone with their masters in Khartoum?

You have any idea why we cannot not leave those people alone?

Do we believe stronger in humanity and in the sanctity of individual life than Arabs, Africans, Muslims?

Why do we discuss the cruel, terrible fate of the people of Darfur while the terror masters in Khartoum are celebrated by Muslim and Arab leaders?

Are we less inclined to accept injustice, suppression, torture, than the people closer to the Darfurians?

Let us be Realpolitiker. Let us be critical about interventions way beyond our borders.

Who are we to impose our values and way of life upon other people?

Here is one reason...

What was wrong with Kipling's White man's burden?

Watching Europe

Muslims are violent parasites in Europe. The Dutch are hitting the limit of their tolerance. what's wrong with the rest of the world? What will happen to those who don't follow the Dutch example? Is the Dutch example enough? should we outside the Netherlands follow the Dutch example of something else?

DUTCH GET TOUGHER ON TERROR
By Lorenzo Vidino
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

As events such as the Madrid and London bombings have abundantly proved, Europe has become one of the key battlegrounds of the global war on terror. Friday marked an important date in this struggle, as a court in Amsterdam issued a much-awaited verdict in the trial of the so-called "Hofstad group," the maxi terrorist cell that planned various attacks throughout the Netherlands between 2003 and 2005.

The court convicted nine of the 14 alleged terrorists, imposing sentences up to 15 years. A key member of the group, Mohammed Bouyeri, had previously been sentenced to life in a separate trial. Bouyeri reached worldwide notoriety in November 2004, when he ritualistically killed in broad daylight Theo van Gogh, the controversial Dutch filmmaker who had directed a movie highly critical of Islam's treatment of women. The verdict represents a major victory against what Dutch intelligence agencies consider the most severe threat to the country's security, and the first successful use of new antiterrorism legislation.

But the Amsterdam trial has an importance that goes well beyond the sphere of counterterrorism. This verdict is the culmination of a new trend that has been growing in Holland since the van Gogh assassination, as the country has gone through a severe self-examination. The Hofstad group is just the most dramatic and evident manifestation of a much larger problem. Most of the members of the group, in fact, were born in the Netherlands, sons or grandsons of North African immigrants who had grown up immersed in Dutch culture, yet had embraced radical Islam and decided to "wage a holy war against their own country," as Dutch prosecutors defined it.

Bouyeri, who had described Holland as a "democratic torture chamber," talked about overthrowing the Dutch parliament and replacing it with an Islamic court. While receiving generous benefits from its social security, the men planned to kill the country's leaders and start a civil war that would have pitted Muslims against Christians.

As exiguous as their number is, the members of the Hofstad group are living examples of the failed integration of large segments of the local Muslim population and, more broadly, of the end of Holland's multicultural dogma. While only a tiny minority of Holland's Muslims has joined the group or taken part in other violent anti-system activities, tensions with the Islamic community concerning everyday life have been boiling in the Netherlands for the last 15 years. The van Gogh assassination was widely perceived by the Dutch as a tipping point, a sign they could no longer turn a blind eye to a problem they had either ignored or downplayed for too long.

Even the most liberal voices in the Netherlands now acknowledge that disturbingly high percentages of the local Muslim population have segregated themselves, ignoring, if not shunning, basic Dutch values such as women's rights, separation of church and state and respect for different lifestyles.

And if the verdict signals a strong shift in the country's attitudes toward countering terrorism, Holland has been rethinking many of its internal policies since that tragic November day. Immigration has been drastically reduced, with the stated aim of focusing on integrating the large and widely unassimilated existing immigrant communities. New residents must now undergo 500 hours of Dutch language instruction and 50 hours of social orientation. And in January Immigration and Integration Minister Rita Verdonk talked about a "national code of conduct," a set of general rules to be applied to the public that emphasizes the equality of men and women, non-discrimination and the importance of the Dutch language.

Other measures directly target the Muslim community. Public funding for Islamic schools, often accused of perpetrating the self-segregation of the Muslim community, is under review. And parliament has already voted in favor of a proposal to ban the most extreme forms of veiling (such as the burqa and the niqab) in public.

More generally, there is a growing consensus on what it means to be Dutch. Voices throughout the political spectrum have found an unprecedented determination and pride in reaffirming basic Dutch values of tolerance and democracy. "We were tolerant to the intolerants and we only got intolerance back," said Geert Wilders, a Dutch politician often criticized for his harsh tones against the Muslim community, in the wake of the van Gogh assassination. This concept has now become mainstream in a country that has found the courage to talk about immigration and the need for newcomers to accept the basic values of their host countries while still retaining their identity.

The recognition of these problems, unspoken until a few months ago, is now the priority on the agenda of all Dutch political parties. The fact that, according to official government estimates, major cities such as Amsterdam and Rotterdam will be Muslim-majority within a decade only adds urgency to the issue. The verdict is another battle won by the Dutch in a long war they have finally decided to fight, without demagogic alarmism or excesses, but with the necessary firm determination.

Five men were arrested this morning in connection with last month's London protests against cartoons satirising the prophet Muhammad.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan police said four of the men were being held on suspicion of incitement to murder and all five were being held on the public order offence of "using words or written material to stir up racial hatred".

Four of the men were arrested at their London homes in Tower Hamlets, Redbridge, Southall and Waltham Forest and were taken to a central London police station for questioning. The fifth man was arrested in Birmingham and is being questioned there

The arrests relate to the February 3 demonstrations when most of the vehement protest placards appeared.

Among the written slogans touted by protesters that day were "butcher those who mock Islam" and "slay those who insult Islam". Some evoked previous al-Qaida suicide bombings with "Europe you will pay, your 9/11 is on the way", or "7/7 is on its way".

One man who dressed as a suicide bomber was sent back to jail for breaching the terms of his parole on a drug dealing conviction.

The cartoons were originally published in Denmark and included an image of the Prophet Muhammad with a fizzing bomb in his turban. They were reproduced in countries from France to Yemen, but were not printed in the national media in the UK.

Today's arrests come over a month after the protests, which were widely filmed and photographed allowing identification of the protesters. Shortly after the event, the assistant commissioner of the Metropolitan police, Steve House, said the decision not to intervene and make arrests had prevented the situation from becoming "inflamed".

The Met established a dedicated investigation team named Operation Laverda on February 3 to look into the protests.

Asked if there were likely to be more arrests related to the demonstrations, the Met today said they expected "further developments later on".

Who's Sorry Now?

Some people love the phantasy that Islam is a religion of peace, and that the reason Muslims are blowing up innocent civilians is because a thousand years ago the Romans sacked the Greeks in Constantinople, and the British were imperialists who put railroads across India and the Americans support the Jews in Israel. If only we would correct those mistakes and a few others, then everything will be fine except for the Danish cartoonists who must be murdered. Well, throw yourself in that pot too, friend, cause if it's not cartoons it's something else they haven't thought up yet. Here's how it stands for the Danes:

No time limit to ransom for cartoonist's head
March 15 2006

By Michel Moutot

Peshawar - In his office in Peshawar's historic Mohabat Khan mosque, prayer leader Maulana Yousaf Qureshi smoothes his beard from the white roots to the henna-orange tips.

"There's no time limit. If someone kills the cartoonist in 50 years he will still get the million dollars," he says.

In a blazing sermon on February 17, Qureshi promised the money - and a new car - to whoever assassinates any of the 12 Danes whose drawings of the Prophet Mohammed ignited a firestorm of protest across the Muslim world.

'We want them to spend their days like prisoners, under police protection'On the same day, anti-cartoon protests in the conservative northwestern city turned into full-fledged anti-western riots that left foreign fast-food joints and businesses in flames.

The unrest has abated since then, but not the anger.

"We want them to spend the rest of their days like prisoners, under police protection," nods the imam, between two sips of sweetened green tea.

"We would like Denmark to sentence them to death, but since they don't do that there we would settle for life imprisonment."

Qureshi himself offered a $8 333 (about R50 000) reward while the rest is being collected by the Peshawar Association of Goldsmiths.

The group also offered the car.

In Peshawar, the narrow lanes of the gold market adjoin the massive white mosque. Many jewellers bear callouses on their foreheads, caused by years of bowing in prayer.

Ahmed, who would not give his first name, is one of them. In his tiny shop he hammers out a gold sheet.

"I'm ready to donate my share. No one is refusing to pay, it's an honour.

"I'll give as much as possible, everything I have."

A little further off Haji Zarin Khan, the association's secretary general, sits in his office surrounded by gold and mirrors.

"All contributions will be voluntary. The richer ones will naturally pay more," he says.

"When the Prophet was alive, one day someone insulted him. He ordered they should be put to death.

"So it's normal that the people behind these abominations should be killed. It's simple."

He lowers his voice.

"Look, what we basically want to do is send a message to the rest of the world. No doubt it will be difficult for someone to actually go to Denmark and kill these people."

"But we want to express our anger. And to ensure this never happens again."

Some visitors in the room nod in agreement.

"The solution is for them to say they are sorry. The cartoonists or the Danish government. Islam says you must pardon those who repent," Khan adds.

Rehmat Khan, who runs a modest shop near the entrance to the mosque, said he had "not been told about this reward.

The association has not made any official announcement.

"But if they ask me I will give them what I can. I am a small jeweller, I won't be able to give much... but I will give something."

Asked if he had seen the offending cartoons, he replied: "No, no, of course not. I'm too busy working every day. And anyway it would be a sin to look at them."

Sat cross-legged on a rug, behind his three telephones, his fax and his computer, Qureshi closes his eyes and smiles.

"These unfortunate drawings have had one positive effect: they have woken up the Muslim world, which is now more united."

A ringing telephone interrupts him.

"Inshallah (God willing), my son," he says.

"A mujahedin (holy whttp://www.int.iol.co.za/index.php?art_id=qw1142403663679B212&set_id=1&click_id=24&sf=

Palestinian Filth Garbage Scums:

Dhimmi scum bags at the Toronto Star, one of Canada's largest newspapers, cries that the Palestinian garbage slimes are making fools of them. This is nearly funny:

Editorial: Palestinian anarchy
Mar. 16, 2006. 01:00 AM

Do Palestinians want to make themselves pariahs? Their Jan. 25 election of a Hamas government devoted to Israel's destruction shocked even long-time friends. Now Palestinian mobs have vented their rage at Israel by seizing foreigners, including a Canadian, shooting up American and European Union missions, and forcing diplomats and aid workers to flee for their lives. This is madness.Israel's raid Tuesday on a West Bank prison triggered this fury. Troops seized Ahmed Saadat and other militants whom Israelis deem responsible for the 2001 murder of cabinet minister Rehavam Ze'evi. Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal recently vowed to free Saadat, just before Israel's March 28 election. All of which has precisely nothing to do with foreign aid workers.Yet Canadian aid worker Adam Budzanowski was one of 10 people abducted as anarchy swept the West Bank and Gaza. So were two French journalists and a South Korean newsman. A Swiss worker for the Red Cross. Two French women doctors. An American teacher. And two Australians seized at a school. Happily, all were freed unharmed. Even so, targeting them was folly.Prime Minister Stephen Harper and other Western leaders are looking for ways to funnel $1 billion in aid to the Palestinians, through the United Nations, Red Cross, churches and other agencies. The idea is to bypass Hamas unless it shuns violence, recognizes Israel and abides by peace agreements. If all aid is cut off, people will starve and desperation will breed violence. But how can aid be delivered if donors are treated like targets? The Red Cross was forced this week to withdraw staff. The U.N. shut operations and the European Union pulled out monitors. In such chaos, who would there be to deliver aid? There will be many more Palestinian-Israeli flare-ups before peace ever comes to the region. During those moments of crisis, Palestinians must learn to distinguish their friends from their foes.

Blue Revoluton Meeting: Where will you be?

Truepeers sent the following post by Lawrence Auster. Be fore we get to it I want to point out that Thursday we will have another round of Blue Revolution meetings across the world.

In Vancouver, Canada we will meet at the Vancouver Public Library from 7-9:00 pm. in the atrium. We will wear blue scarves so you will know at a glance who we are. Others will meet in different places around the world. If there is no location for you to join, please go somewhere yourself and invite people to join you.

One of the reasons this is important is, as we will see below, that the world is changing from our usual idiot dhimmitude and placation of fascist Islam to an aggressive denial of Islam as a religion of peace or even as a religion at all, seeing it more clearly as a triumphalist ideology based on the ravings of a vicious madman elevated to religious prophet, and now the symbol of a carnivorous political machine we call Islam. The public opinion in this battle for the future is turning away from Islam and toward the Modernist values we used to hold as better. However, there are still many among us who would turn our democracies into pits of slavery and waste. One of those is Jean Le Pen, from what we will read below.

Public opinion in the modern world is changing rapidly. It's not changing in the direction we might think of as good. Le Pen might well find a following. If not him, then others will take his place. Some one will lead this drive to confront Islam. If Le Pen finds common cause with Muslims he will abandon France and the French to Islam and take power through them as proxies. Some one will rule. It could be you.

Ours is a world in change. We must accept the nature that the world will follow the lead of leaders, and if we do nothing, others, unattractive to the majority, will take that lead.

Our position is one of democrats, of people who argue for the good sense of the majority deciding futurity as individuals in conjunction with other individuals. We urge you to meet your neighbours and peers to speak openly about a revolution in which again the people will take the lead in articulating and forming the nature of our politics and of our public lives. It's up to you.

We urge you to join others in your communities to speak freely about the course of our communities. Please announce your up-coming loccation where your friends and neighbours can find you to join in this public discussion. This Blue Revolution of democrats against the elitists and dhimmis pandering to Islam and enforcing an alien and destructive agenda on the majority has begun. It grows. And we must be victorious or the Le Pens of the world will destroy us as surely as will the Muslims.

Post your location below. Fight back by meeting your friends for coffee on Thursday evening to talk. That's all we need do at this time. Meet people who, like you, are concerned about jihad and dhimmitude.

Where will you be?

Le Pen the appeaser

VFR's French translator, Judith, writes:

This is the latest article about Le Pen and it seems to confirm what Michel Gurfinkiel and Denis Greslin (of occidentalis.com) have said , namely that he not only makes anti-Semitic cracks, but that he is an ally of Islam. He really does seem to be Buchanan's twin (possibly worse, since his party has a shot in the next election). It was noted that his daughter and heir Marine Le Pen was not present at that now infamous [LA note: infamous, because it was taken over the left] rally in Paris for Ilan Halimi. Normally, this wouldn't mean much, but in view of this new article it seems to be an omen. The only hope the French have is Philippe de Villiers, but it would be a miracle if he won enough votes in the first round of the presidential election to qualify for the second. Already some Muslims are saying they will vote for Le Pen.

Here is the article that Judith has translated for us:

Le Pen "does not see" why Iran should not have atomic weapons

PARIS (Agence France Presse) The president of the National Front, Jean-Marie Le Pen, "does not see" why Iran should be prevented from acquiring nuclear weapons, as pointed out in his March editorial in The French First, the FN's monthly publication. "I don't see by what principle one can forbid a state from desiring to master nuclear technology for civil or military purposes," writes the president of the party of the extreme-right. "Why reproach Ahmadinejad (the Iranian president) for doing what others before him have done? We didn't fight India or Pakistan or Israel when (...) these countries acquired military nuclear technology," he went on.

Nuclear weapons are "weapons one does not use, since the one who uses them is certain to be destroyed within a few minutes," declares the president of the FN. In his editorial, M. Le Pen suggests that world opinion is "white hot" on the issue, because the United States and their "unconditional allies strongly wish for" a war against Iran.

"After the interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq, it is Iran's turn, so that the oil supplies can be safeguarded, so that Israel can be protected, and perhaps too in order to wage a war of annihilation against Islam, according to the wishes of the evangelical hawks who dominate American institutions," writes Mr. Le Pen.

In the same text, Le Pen also suggests that the recent international polemic over the Mohammed cartoons is linked to the international iron fist targeting Teheran. "They have to prime world opinion for war" against Iran, and "what better way to do this than a good international argument over Islam," he states.

I have no idea of where Le Pen is coming from, but wherever it is, it is bad. In the past, I have attempted to be fair to Le Pen, seeking to place his anti-Semitic comments in a broader context in which he did not seem to have an actual anti-Jewish agenda, but, on the contrary, by his wanting to protect Europe from Islam, seemed to be much better for the Jews than his "respectable" dhimmi counterparts in the left-center. But a Western leader—not to mention one who professes to stand for the West against the Islamic takeover of Europe—who derides and dismisses the danger of an insane Islamic regime that is seeking to create nuclear weapons and has threatened to use them, and would certainly use them to intimidate Europe, a French "nationalist" leader who views the cartoon controversy as an American plot to stir up war against Muslims rather than as the most direct expression of the mortal threat Islam poses to Europe, is someone whom I myself dismiss. From this moment forth I forget Le Pen and his party. I look to the development of a European nationalist right that will defend the nations and the civilization of Europe.

Judith replies:

Your comment echos my own opinion. This man's inner motives are difficult to sort out. Even if he bore a grudge of some sort against the Jews, the move towards an alliance with Islam, however tacit, is extraordinary. His rejection of his own culture and heritage just to gain power, just to get even with those who, he feels, betrayed him, is an incredible betrayal on his part of the millions who have put their faith in him despite his obvious flaws. This makes the job of Philippe de Villiers very clear—he has to discredit Le Pen, in such a way that Le Pen's loyal base realize that they have been duped and shift their support to de Villiers. Only a miracle can save France.

We can't rightly allow people like Le Pen take over. If we don't act, he, and others perhaps even worse than he, will.

Where will you be?

Identity, Ethnicity, and Race.

The following post is part of an ongoing discussion at CUANAS. As it happens, during the composition of my reply I found that there is a good addition to this discussion at IBA from Michelle Malkin, included below.

Multi-culti phantasy is a social disaster that is destroying our world as a functional experience. The communitarian and determinists view of Humanity, one that informs our age as dominant, raises some unpleasant problems for those of us who object to it. Racism is bad, leading as it does to murder at worst, but to lesser evils we still shouldn't accept. But racism is something historically definite rather than a slur to be hurled at anyone we might not like. Racism, the social Darwinist pseudo-science from the 19th and early 20th centuries, isn't today the same thing it was then. But where do we draw the line between the provable evils of real racism and the bizarre and disgusting phantasies of destructive multi-culti relativism?

My concerns with ethnicity and culture stem from my concerns with individuality and personal privacy, privacy being the personal ownership of the private individual's existence. "I own my own life."

What can one say to a Muslim who says he is the slave of Allah? And what does one say to anyone who claims prior affiliation with a group based on accident? If one freely chooses to become a Muslim, I say too bad but it's not my business. If one is born into Islam and is not allowed to consider it objectively or personally, subjectively, then it is a slavery of the person, and outside ownership of the person's life, and an outrage against Humanity.

That leads me to some problems: one is of family membership and rights. When does the civil society have the right and the duty to intervene in the family's right to raise children as they see fit? I might have problems with people raising their children to be, for example, Catholic. Does the state have a right and a duty to intervene in that upbringing? What about Jehovah Witnesses who refuse their children blood transfusions? What of Islamic FGM rituals? And what of vegan families who won't provide their children with a decent meal? Where do we draw the line in personal families as they relate to the health, welfare, and safety of kids?

Where do we draw the line between a person as person and his identity as member of a culture and tradition? I might be born into a culture that tells me I am part of it by accident of birth and accident of properties not of my choosing or liking. I might be, for example, a potter's son born into my link in the Great Chain of Being, not allowed to ever be anything other than a potter lest I break the Great Chain of Being. Or I might be a Negro, born to slavery on a plantation in Haiti. My culture might demand of me certain behaviors and modes of thought that if I offend against I will not be like my own and will be exiled. But I do not choose accidents. How valid are they if not my choice? Anything I do will be automatic and programmed, not freely willed, and to my mind, not valid morally. To live without rational choice and free volition is to live the life of my cat.

I look too at von Herder and Fichte and Hegel: what am I if I have no boundaries against which I know that I am because I am not. To be everything is to be nothing. I am somethings by virtue of accident, predetermined and flawlessly so: I cannot choose to be Ukrainian even if I live there and speak the language and do as others Ukrainian do. But is that a point of importance in the world of life? Obviously so. There is a deep intuitive bond between me and my ethnic group that I cannot break if I wished to do so. Even if I were the product of a mish-mash of ethnicities, which the Scots are, I have a longing to be at the call of the Gaels. If not Scottish, then I would be at the call of the mixed, and I don't think I'd resist at all. The pull of the atavistic is strong regardless, even when I see in print or in the face of a man on the street a fellow I don't know, I know he is me and mine. I look, when I'm on the road, for those who most closely resemble me, Europeans first, then Westerners, then those who live as I do, Chinese, Hindus, or Christians from any possible place. I have for example, a greater affinity with Indonesian Christian girls a greater affinity than I do with Chinese Buddhists of any kind. And with Chinese girls a greater affinity than with a Muslim from nearly anywhere. It's not a conscious choice. It's instinctive. If from a distance, I simply choose those who look most like me. That in spite of not bothering with my own family members who totally piss me off.

I choose my friends. I don't choose them on the basis of them looking like me. I choose them on individual characteristics. They can be and are of such a range that there's nothing ethnic in common with any of them. But I am attracted to certain people from ethnic groups over others, even when those same ethnic groups piss me off, such as the Irish and the French. Those who are likely closer to me, the English, for example, don't appeal much. They don't appeal at a visceral level that I find irrational and embarrassing. And so too is my liking of the worthless French and the horrible Irish. It's not sensible. It transcends my intelligence and leaves me with the fact that I am bounded regardless. There is no hope of a multi-culti social programme demanding that I like the English on the grounds of non-racism and brotherly love.

I don't love the English. I'm not sure how much choice I have in that matter. I am sure that social engineering isn't going to persuade me to like them any better than I do now. Nor can I pretend successfully that there is no such thing as English. There is something between them, particularly those from the south and me that is real. I look at people as individuals, and then I am confronted by those individuals who are English. I know that I am me and an individual, and then I know that I am not English. That makes me something other than English. It makes me Scottish. But I'm only Scottish by accident and default. What loyalty do I owe people I have little or nothing to do with? Seemingly everything in spite of myself. In that sense I am a first-rate racist. Except that I don't have any Scottish friends and don't see any around me. My loyalties are to my friends, many of whom are from scattered places they have no ties to. They though are also ethnic, and they have vestiges of ethnic loyalties that determine them and give them identity beyond themselves. They are members of a limited identity group. It is meaningful.

The question of ethnicity and group identity for the individual is how far one takes it. I am part of an extended family group, and though others might be adopted into that group they are adopted, not of the blood. It is irrational and it is real. It leads to Judenrein and it leads to Israel.

What is it to be an ethnic individual? It is the freedom of being bounded. I am because I am not. My ethnicity is objective but it is not determinative beyond my will. I am a group member by default and perhaps I can choose to ignore it if I will. It is a necessary but not sufficient aspect of identity. My being is objective and accidental, and within that confine I am as I can choose. If life were fair I would have been born into the family of Leonopold Blooum.

In the course of the last few days as I've been writing on this theme at http://CUANAS.blogspot.com/ I've covered a lot of ground. In the middle of writing the copy above it comes to my attention that there is more on this topic at http://ibloga.blogspot.com/ :

7 Year Old Racist Poet Is A-Ok With The Media

Because she's black I guess, and our Politically correct establishment love to play the S&M drill of whipping the white man's ass. And, oh how we white people love to be whipped.

Yes, Massa. I's sorry I's white.

Fuck that.

Anyway, check out Michelle Malkin's column about this little, hate-filled, girl :

7-year-old poisonous 'poet' is in demand

By Michelle Malkin

One of the nation's fastest-rising poetry prodigies is a 7-year-old New York girl whose poisonous demagogic advocacy of black separatism makes Al Sharpton look like Mr. Rogers.

Autum Ashante' of Mount Vernon, N.Y., has performed at HBO's Def Poetry Jam, The Cotton Club in L.A., The Apollo Theater in Harlem, the African Street Festival, Caroline's on Broadway, the Russell Simmons Phat Farm Fashion Show, Steve Harvey's "Big Time," a prestigious Grammy Foundation event, and at universities and other venues across the country. She recites her verses not only in English, but also in fluent Swahiili and Arabic (she attended the Islamic Darul Arkam School in Mount Vernon).

Autum has appeared at a tribute to black nationalist Marcus Garvey, America-bashing 9/11 conspiracy-monger Amiri Baraka's annual family cookout, and the extremist New Black Panther Party's Million Youth March. The city of New York honored her with a proclamation for inspiring "her peers, as well as adults, while also demonstrating the power of a father's love, the importance of education and the limitless boundaries of the human mind." New York City councilwoman Yvette Clark called her "one of the most precious young talents that this world has ever known."

Most recently, as New York Post education reporter David Andreatta reported this weekend, she was invited to perform at public middle and high schools in Peekskill, N.Y., for Black History Month.

Here, in full, is what precious little Autum — groomed by her single father, Ashante, a Nation of Islam poet/activist — spewed:

White Nationalism Put U In Bondage

White nationalism is what put you in bondage

Pirate and vampires like Columbus, Morgan, and Darwin

Drank the blood of the sheep, trampled all over them with

Steel, tricks and deceit.

Nothing has changed take a look in our streets

The mis-education of she and Hegro — leaves you on your knee2grow

Black lands taken from your hands, by vampires with no remorse

They took the gold, the wisdom and all of the storytellers

They took the black women, with the black man weak

Made to watch as they changed the paradigm

Of our village

They killed the blind, they killed the lazy, they went

So far as to kill the unborn baby

Yeah White nationalism is what put you in bondage

Pirates and vampires like Columbus, Morgan, and Darwin

They drank the blood of the sheep, trampled all over them with

Steel laden feet, throw in the tricks alcohol and deceit.

Nothing has changed take a look at our streets.

Autum's performance also included commanding white students to remain seated as she led black students in a recitation of the "Black Child's Pledge," which reads in part:

I pledge allegiance to my Black People.

I pledge to develop my mind and body to the greatest extent possible.

I will learn all that I can in order to give my best to my People in their struggle for liberation.

…I will discipline myself to direct my energies thoughtfully and constructively rather than wasting them in idle hatred…

I will train myself never to hurt or allow others to harm my Black brothers and sisters…

These principles I pledge to practice daily and to teach them to others in order to unite my People.

Complaints from shocked students and parents led to a tape-recorded apology sent to all parents apologizing for the performance. Autum's father condemned white district officials as "racist crackers." Autum defended her poem by explaining to the Westchester Journal News that white people are "devils and they should be gone. We should be away from them and still be in Africa.
"

And make note of this: The official who invited Autum to speak, Melvin Bolden, is a public school music teacher, Peekskill councilman, and producer of her first spoken word album.

Who is surprised? If you set aside a separate holiday for Black History Month in the public schools, if you set aside separate graduation ceremonies, college dorms, academic departments, recruiting programs, and government contracts and subcontracts by race, you send a message that hardcore racial separatism is not only acceptable — but desired.

Autum Ashante' is the natural offspring of militant multiculturalism and government-sanctioned identity politics. We reap what we sow.

This post needs more thought, and that requires more time. Given the nature of identity politics in our time we'll return to it over and over. I welcome your insights and comments, as always.
