Hi Dag.
I would say when he smiles a Non Muslim got hurt,he doesn't limit himself to Americans in his hatred.Dag do you know why Marat was so often in his bathtub?

Hi, Will. Yes, you're right that Obama smiles whenever any non-Muslim is hurt. I think one could well put out a run of tee-shirts with the cut-line, "an American/Canadian, American/Englishman, an American Frenchman, and so on.It's anyone outside his vision of "victims."

Marat spent his time in the tub due to a skin disease he got while hiding in Paris sewers while he was a fugitive from the state. The cool water soothed his burning skin enough to allow him to write and live to an extent.

Marat was a mathematician and medical doctor by training and temperament, but he took on the role of revolutionary in his last years, becoming fanatical in his support for democracy at the level of the lowest classes. He was a leader of the sans coulottes, those without shoes, the poorest of the poor. If the lowest people don't have a right to political freedom, which I take to mean the right to own their own lives themselves, then it's not meaningful to have the word bantered about by others. Either we all have the right or we don't. Marat was a fanatic, a blood-thirsty one, a maniac in many ways, who incited the poor to do terrible deeds. But as a math. guy he looked at it as a matter of doing the least sooner to preclude the worst later.

I can't say Marat was actually a humane or decent fellow, one who actually cared about people as individuals en masse, because he seems to have been a utilitarian interested mostly in order over individuals, classes over men. But we share, he and I, a passion for democracy for everyone, even if it means war to the totalitarian end and beyond. There's a price to pay for that kind of commitment, as Marat testifies to. One might live a live of a rat and die at the hands of a decent woman who could stand no more atrocity.

It's a hard world that often disappoints those of us who had assumed it so much better. But we must live with what we have and make it as good as we can without doing more harm than we must.

Obama is a fool who has only day-dreams and cliches to rule his world. He is a disaster for us all. His followers are fascists, whether they know it or not, and we have a serious struggle ahead to defeat them. If a short piece like that above can help people see through him, so much the better of all of us, rich or poor, here or there.

Hi Dag.
I do agee with what you say here, thank you for refeshing a bit my history about Marat.only one little fault i don't know somewhere over the course of translation a fault slipped in maybe?Sana=s culotte means actually without underwear it was very expencive at the time to have underwear therefor the poor wore none and were called "Sans cullotte".And yes i do agree Obama and what he represents is a very grave danger to democracy and freedom a second term of with him will transform America beyond recognition. And even if he's voted out his men will occupy all the key posts America has lost a lot in two years.

I'm laughing at myself here, Will. You're right about my translation. I should have been thinking about shorts, but my mind was on "sabots." I avoided that, not wanting to give anyone the impression that I'm not an entirely reasonable man.

It's ok Dag.
Actually come to think of it the poor might have been wearing "Sabots"(wooden clumps) in those days.lol

Dag said...

People did were sabots then and later, wooden shoes, that they used to jamb and smash gears in machines they felt were putting them out of work. From that sabot in the gears direct action we get the term "sabotage."

When Obama smiles my Acme Creep-O-Meter maxes out!

TYou're right, the man is genuinely creepy. When he was running for election I pegged him as an up-scale street hustler that one finds at train stations. Now I know he's far worse than I could have ever imagined.

That grin of Obama's drives me up the wall. He thinks he's really something when he grins from ear to ear. Trying to exude charisma, I think.

I note that he also flashes a smile when he's cornered.

Sometimes, many times, his eyes aren't smiling, though.

He's an obvious manipulator to many of us, and that crowd is growing daily; but it will never be everyone. We are stuck with Obama as a significant public figure for a life time now. When he's free from the constant public eye seeing him as he is, he can gauze the lens and show the public a retired statesman, elder philosopher, wise man touching on this or that as it pleases him. His reputation will grow because he'll never have to confront the people generally, only his followers who will adore him. He's a danger guy.
