I'm not quite how to describe Iquitos, Peru: Almost Close. Parts of the book are picaresque, other parts not.
Whatever.
It's a good read, and I do a lot of smiling and chuckling while I'm reading -- and some somber reflecting as well.
I will posting my review at my blog site on February 18. Please stop by if you can. Some of my readers might want to hear from the author!
Just ordered my copy. To me it's a sign that I am ready to begin putting the pieces of my broken self back together, after the daily hell,mental abuse and complete shake up of my psyche while spending 5 months existing in Peru with a man who I loved so much, he almost destroyed me. It's been 2 weeks since I had any contact with him, and I now want to remember Iquitos and the people and animals without him in the picture.
I think this book will really help me do that.
