9/11/01/07: The Hollow Men at Ragnarok.

It comes again this 9/11, and I turn away my usual thoughts from death instead to Hell.

Six years. Then that morning there, they came. They fell upon us. They come at us still.

Who? Yes, some Muslims killed our own on 9/11/01. Yes, some still try, a few succeed; but the creatures who come, not the primitives, they are our own.

Six years ago I woke at 6:00 a.m. under a bank of lights blazing, the intercom blaring, the rush of men to their duties. I lagged behind them, more than a couple of years then past that I’d seen my friends, my reason for the return and my place among the milling, my reason for returning to the land of Peace and Plenty, Order and Good Government, to see my friends. Two years past of struggle and travail and outright war had passed pleasantly, but it had to halt and I had to meet my mates if only for a shortest while. Mulling meeting my friends, I woke. I awoke. I woke up. The radio voice shouted. I heard the shouting of thousands dead at the New York City World Trade Center Tower, a loaded passenger jet having crashed into it. Thousands dead.

I heard it. I heard the voices say it. I heard it and I couldn’t grasp it. I sat in front of the television with a dozen others and watched the tower burn.

Then the other tower. I saw men jump. I saw women fall. I watched. I saw. I saw the fall. I saw both towers fall.

I bought a radio, one with ear phones, and I listened to Canadians call in to the national radio station to say, to express, to express their—delight. Over and over and over Canadians gloated. Not all. Most. The creatures came out into the darkness. I felt….

Canada. It’s such a lovely place, and the people there are all so polite! They’re really nice. They even queue like the English. I sat on the steps of the public library with my earphones in listening to the creatures calling, coming on one after another, calling, saying :The Americans deserved it….” I felt.

“It does not matter how small the sins are provided that their cumulative effect is to edge the man away from the Light and out into the Nothing. Murder is no better than cards if cards can do the trick. Indeed the safest road to Hell is the gradual one—the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts.” C.S. Lewis, The Screwtape Letters.

I sat on the steps at the library listening hour after hour to Canadians gloating. I saw Canadians, arms carrying packages and lattes, Canadians going to and fro, Canadians gloating, going, shopping.

“No, no, no, my child: do not pray. If you do, you will throw away the main advantage of this place. Written over the gate here are the words ‘Leave every hope behind, ye who enter.’ Only think what a relief that is! A form of moral responsibility. Here there is no hope, and consequently no duty, no work, nothing to be gained by praying, nothing to be lost by doing what you like. Hell, in short, is a place where you have nothing to do but amuse yourself.” G.B. Shaw, Man and Superman.

I closed my eyes to Canadians and sat on stone steps. Those few I love were away that day and I was alone to sit with mey memories of war and to clutch my plane ticket to far away. I sat rocking on cold stone steps surrounded by Canadians. I closed my eyes, and I saw Our Own falling.

Canada, the land of the merciful, the compassionate. “How have you fallen from Heaven, bright morning star; felled to the Earth, sprawling helpless across the nations! You thought in your own mind, ‘I will scale the Heavens….’ Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the depths of the abyss.” Isaiah, 14:12.

Canadians. They didn’t kill anyone 9/11. I’d left the wars till I went back to war. That day I sat amidst the dead so deep I have never seen so much death before. Canada.

I watched my watch, waiting for the time of my departure. I would fly. Fly far. War waited. I waited. Clock. Ticked. Slow. And Canadians gloating gloated. Our own fell. I sat.

Canadians swarmed around me as I sat: “Root cause, root cause, root cause.” Root, ‘cause they gloat. They fell.

Canada, so righteous, so nice. “Your beauty made you arrogant, you misused your wisdom to increase your dignity. I flung you to the ground, I left you there, a sight for kings to see. So great was your sin in your wickedness that you desecrated your sanctuaries. So I kindled a fire within you. I left you as ashes on the ground for all to see. All among nations who knew you were aghast: you came to a fearful end and shall be no more forever.” Ezekiel, 28:17.

Hollow men of the Hollow Land, hollow be your names. Yea, though you walk through the Shadow of the Valley of Death, you gloat at the pain of others, arrogant and stupid, smug and self-righteous.

I remember.

I remember my friends, those who draw me here. Even the mire crawling with dull-eyed beasts with sticks has its unfathomable pools deep and filled with love and beauty. I know the Wells, I know the Fall.

I flew.

I fled and I returned, returned for the time the Hollow Men at Ragnarok.

I heard the call and I returned.

With every fall I hear the thump. I hear the thump with every fall. I hear the thump of the fall. The thump of falling, the thump of feet, the thump of boots, the thump of spears upon the stones, the thump of hilts on targes. The thump for every jump. For every fall there is a thump: Of boots on boards, of spears on stones, of hilts on sheilds, of the echo, of the coming, the thump of blood-Berzerker beating.

Six. A dozen. A century. Our own.

Today is not for Death. Today for Hell! Come Hell! Come Ragnarok!

Mine is a most peaceable disposition

I have a poster of Spiderman. I remember this cartoon character from my childhood. Then, as a boy, like now as a man, I was proud of my country, proud to be American. New York Yankees and Spiderman, my dog and me. The world was right. But of course things change, and we see the world differently. I change, but I'm still the same kid at heart, I like to think so. But the nation? The World? Maybe we all see things differently now.

"Mine is a most peaceable disposition. My wishes are: a humble cottage with a thatched roof, but a good bed, good food, the freshest milk and butter, flowers before my window, and a few fine trees before my door; and if God wants to make my happiness complete, He will grant me the joy of seeing some six or seven of my enemies hanging from those trees. Before their death I shall, moved in my heart, forgive them all the harm they did me in my lifetime. One must, it is true, forgive ones enemies-- but not before they have been hanged.

Heinrich Heine, "Gedanken und Einfalle"

Mad about the girl

Oh yeah, I am hooked for good. I love the girl. I think about her daily and can't at all get her out of my mind. I smile and I grin, and I am the man, her man, and I walk in love for the girl. Oh!

She said, "Dag, we haven't done much yet in life, and I think we should before we decide if we want to make if permanent between us. We should live a bit first."

That just about broke my heart, but in my heart I know she's right. I kissed her good night, and took off for a bit of a trip around the world. I got some work and involved myself in various things, but never for a day did I forget about her. I called, wrote, saw her a few times to make sure everything was still on track, though my wife wondered who on earth this girl might be. I finished university, got into my career, got divorced, spent more time on the road. Still nuts over this girl, and I look forward to the time when I really do have the experience in life that will make me the man my gal wants to settle down with and be with for ever. I'm still "getting things done" so I'll be just right for the girl I love so much. Soon, very soon, I'll get with her again and we'll make it right.

I've been with another girl or so, but the sort one calls experience, like my gal wanted me to have so I could show up as a man of the world. Yeah, she's gonna love me when I return. Soon. Very soon. She's the only girl for me, and in 30 years since I've never met another to come close. Gonna be a happy guy when I see her again and make it all happen. She's so beautiful. Never loved another girl like her.

Bayonets and Pillows

Bayonets in the days of laser-guided missiles? Bayonets are useful when the enemy is right there and there's no room to fire a rifle. You don't want to fire a rifle into a crowd, half of whom might be your own. You thrust and puncture the enemy. You don't fire at random into a crowd. First you stab, and if your bayonet is stick in bones and won't come free, then you fire to blow a hole to loosen your weapon. But that's all too icky for our own these days. We use computers. We don't actually stab a guy to death and then blow him up to get our weapons free of his dead stuff. Too yucky for ours these days. And forget about gutting a corpse so it doesn't bloat and explode before anyone can bury it or burn it. That's super-icky. Better to stay home and smoke pot and maybe go to an anti-war protest rally in the hope of finding a girl to hit on, maybe, if she's not too intimidating.

Anna Mulrine, "One less skill for soldiers to master at boot camp: bayonet training," Christian Science Monitor. 28 September 2010.

In 2004, with ammunition running low, a British unit launched a bayonet charge toward a trench outside of Basra, Iraq, where some 100 members of the Mahdi Army militia were staging an attack. The British soldiers later said that though some of the insurgents were wounded in the bayonet charge itself, others were simply terrified into surrender.

Instilling such terror is at the heart of the philosophical argument for keeping bayonet training, historians say.

“Traditionally in the 20th century – certainly after World War I – bayonet training was basically designed to develop in soldiers aggressiveness, courage, and preparation for close combat,” says Richard Kohn, professor of military history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Bayonet training is, in short, used to undo socialization – to “basically to try to mitigate or eradicate the reluctance of human beings to kill each other,” Mr. Kohn says. It is one of the challenges in US or Western society “where we have such reverence for the individual, where we socialize our people to believe in the rule of law, and all of that,” he adds. “What you’re doing with young people is trying to get them used to the highly emotional and irrational and adrenaline-filled situations in which they are liable to find themselves whether they are within sight of the enemy or not – and the reluctance to take a life.”

I am deeply concerned not only over Molly Norris being abandoned by our nation, I am sickened that all women in our nation are at risk because it seems all the men are creepy and cowardly. If men won't defend women, what the fuck good are they? Yes, what good are the women? What is any good at all if we just don't care about women and children?

Television pundit Virginia Ironside prompted outrage yesterday after saying she would suffocate a child to end its suffering.

Shocked BBC viewers complained after the agony aunt said she would hold a pillow over the face of a child in pain.

Minutes earlier the controversial writer said 'a loving mother' would abort an unwanted or disabled baby, and praised abortion as 'a moral and unselfish act'.

Television pundit Virginia Ironside prompted outrage yesterday after saying she would suffocate a child to end its suffering.

Miss Ironside said: 'If a baby's going to be born severely disabled or totally unwanted, surely an abortion is the act of a loving mother.'

She added: 'If I were the mother of a suffering child - I mean a deeply suffering child - I would be the first to want to put a pillow over its face... If it was a child I really loved, who was in agony, I think any good mother would.'

Commentators accused the controversial writer of advocating eugenics, and disability rights campaigners branded her views 'despicable'.

Bayonets are bad. Pillows are OK. Molly Norris is in hiding because men are afraid.

Greens bomb.

You've likely seen this ecologists' video of exploding people before, but here it is just in case.

http://pajamasmedia.com/zombie/2010/10/01/most-honest-political-ad-of-all-time/

I'm pleased to see it, showing most graphically that what I write in chapter three, "Oikos I" of my nearly completed book, A Genealogy of Left Dhimmi Fascism, is pretty accurate in its depiction of ecology as a fascist misanthropy.

She was at the library looking for a Qur'an

Instead, she found the scariest thing ever:

A Mohammed cartoon.

And you wonder why Muslims riot.

Hippie Punching

There are two kinds of hippies at this here blog: there's yer Conformity Hippies that I go on about, and there's yer Death Hippies that I really go on about. Some generic hippies are whining about "Hippie Punching." I like the idea, and here is some expert advice on How To.

Hippie Punching FAQ

Unfortunately, American society has gotten lax on hippie punching to the point I thought I should write an FAQ to better explain the issue to those who don't currently engage in the punching of hippies. Hopefully one day this will all become so natural again that a hippie punching FAQ will be about as necessary as a flipping people off in traffic FAQ.
