Maybe I've been missing his longer articles.

culture offers a way of economizing on deliberate decision-making by providing a wide range of beliefs, attitudes, values, preferences, traditions, and customs

And just what happens when the consensus of a particular national culture is gone? Several of his books feel as smooth to read as the dictionary... His weekly columns tend to be written much more at my level.

Whenever columnist Walter Williams fills in for Rush Limbaugh on Rush's radio show, Thomas Sowell is often brought on as well for an interview. That always makes for fascinating radio!Charles Henryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18168475254263681673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13144649.post-1146929695407660802006-05-06T08:34:00.001-07:002006-05-06T08:34:00.001-07:00I find this all pretty exciting. As soon as I read the essay I took parts of to post above I realised I'd found someone who has clear and interesting ideas that reflect postively on our current condition. My background is in Comparative Lit., and to find exciting ideas in a field so far away is so much fun for me that I wanted to spread it around a bit. I also suspected that others would be able to add to my minute stock of awareness of this writer. Thanks, guys. I'll do some reading on him and find his books somewhere.Daghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10664271893389366772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13144649.post-1146929645931598252006-05-06T08:34:00.000-07:002006-05-06T08:34:00.000-07:00I find this all pretty exciting. I have found his language difficult -or perhaps his detailed construction of a point in which with I was already in agreement- but you have reminded me of a writer that have long meant to read. I am such a procrastinator. Thanks for the kick, Dag.maccusgermanishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01887574496312472556noreply@blogger.com
